Golden Straw in color hazy with a thin white head. Nice Easy drinking Saison. Great yeast and malt flavors. Little spice flavoring this was tasty.

Blonde and hazy. Aroma has phenols and yeast up front. Phenols and kiwi and yeast....unusual character. Not great but not bad either. Okay saison...definitely new world, and I’m not sure that’s for the best.

In short: A dry and hoppy pale Saison with authentic rusticity. Excellent.
How: Growler 32oz, consumed the day I received it from mcberko, thanks a lot Matt.
The look: Cloudy yellow body topped by a medium white head.
In long: Nose is taking a deep breath in a countryside field, the type clean and soft rustic yeast aroma I’ll never get tired of. Aroma also includes lemongrass, Saaz-ish grassy-spicy hops, lemon zest. In mouth the body feels full yet light. In mouth the very-low-sweetness malt backbone brings a sensation of sun dried wheat and fluffy oat flakes. Also lemon zest, countryside flowers, rustic yeast, dry grassy hops, a certain spiciness with white pepper and others. High attenuation which makes the assertive dry grassy-spicy hops come out even stronger in the finish. An excellent authentic Saison, it may be more hoppy than a classic Belgium Saison but the hopping is not American style, like a classic Belgian Saison with a brewer who went nuts on the hopping. I loved this beer, I love Saisons, I really don’t mind when people call me a Saison whore because it sounds like I have sex with a lot of Saisons, and that sounds awesome.

Draft at Chuck’s 85th. Super clean, single style saison here. Really nice and grassy with tiny elements of barnyard and aged hops. Perfect summer weather brew!

This saison makes me curious about the super saison. Compared to the little. This one has more vanilla and viscosity to it. It does taste really good but it seems less spicy to me.

On draught at pFriem. Color is cloudy deep yellow, almost like juice. Aroma is tropical tart fruit, light yeast, and hint of sweet malt. Taste is tart pitted and citrus fruits, light spicy yeast, and some grassy hop notes. Refreshingly spicy and tart on the finish.

Tap at pFriem, Hood River, 24/05/13. Clear pale blonde with a thin white head. Nose is lemon rind, grass, herbs, bitter orange, spice. Taste comprises grass, light spice, lemon zest, orange pith, gooseberries, farmy, light funk. Medium bodied, dine carbonation, crisp finish. A very good saison, hits all the right notes for this style!

On tap @ the brewpub in Hood River. Pours opaque cloudy yellow with thick head that fades thin. Aroma is lightly sweet fruit and peppercorns. Taste is light crisp malt, lemon and pepper on the finish. Thin but effervescent and solid mouthfeel. Delicious. Fairly sessionable. Should I step up to the Super Saison??

Draught. Cloudy orange pour. Very restained, almost too restrained spicy aroma. Flavour is spice, something that seems like waterbloemmatjie though I was assured there were no water hawthorns in the beer. Spicy finish
