The head is ok, the body black. It smells thin, a bit darkmalty, watery. The taste is watery, a bit malty. It looks good and full bodied, but is the contrary, boring. 10/6/7/6/9/6

Palatable but bland a bit offputting. The pour is a dark, murky black with a thin beige head. Nose is roasted malts, light cocoa, skunk? Light malt base with a mild bitterness on the finish, lack of sweetness.

Can, shared with Rockley and compared alongside Leavenworth’s schwarz. Man this suffered by comparison! Weak caramel and coarse grains with the same tinny aftertaste we found in their Helles. Thin and pretty terrible by comparison.

Pours the colour of cola with very little head and no lace. Tastes of toasted malt, brown sugar, dark fruits, noble bitterness. Not bad, but not spectacular.

500ml can pours almost black in color with a finger of off-white head that leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel and grass. Taste is a caramel malty sweetness with a grassy hop bitterness. Light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation. I think I am being a little generous with this rating, as this is not a particularly good schwarzbier.

500ml can with "cool star"! Dark brown pour, orange highlights. Beige foam, good creamy texture .Lacing is nice. Aroma is roasty with a metallic note. Taste has light roasted malt, bit of dark chocolate, mild hop. Plain finish, dryish. A bit under average for the style, I’m slightly disappointed, nothing I would come back to....

In Short: A great Schwarzbier! The beer smells great. A hint of bread and roasted malt. The colour is very dark with a nice white head. Unfortunately the head only lasts a few seconds. The taste is different from other Schwarzbiers I have had. There is just a little more of the dark malts and a slight hint of hops. For me Schwarzbier is more a cold season beer but this I can drink all summer long.

Bottle. The strong smell of malt and some cola, some roasted malt as well. The head is pale brown and fizzy with a normal size and a short duration. The body is nearly black. A malty taste, a soft roasted taste, some cola. The body is rather medium strong, creamy and light oily with a soft carbonation.

Thanks to erzengel for this beer! Pours a dark brown with amber highlights and a tan head. The smell is dark roasted malt, bitter chocolate, a touch of molasses. The taste is roasted malt, bitter chocolate ending dry and a bit bitter. The body is light with average carbonation.

Bottle from Maruhn. Clear very dark brown with a big beige head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt and caramel. Flavor is quite sweet and light bitter. Dry and light bitter finish. 301214

Northern German Schwarzbier with regular, thin but stable, pale beige head and dark bronze colour with burgundy hue, not really black, clear with delicate sparkling. Strong maltiness in the nose, caramel, bitter chocolate, walnuts, liquorice, iron, floral hops. Bit neutral in the beginning, then shifting into a smooth and slick, caramelly and nutty maltiness, bit metallic, ending in a gentle roasted bitterness (black coffee), oily mouthfeel, mild herbal hops in the finish.
