3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark amber in colour with no head at all. Maltiness in the aroma with almost nothing else. A great malty flavour with a bit of sweetness and a touch of hops thrown in. Finishes with a malt bitterness. Overall, a better than average that was one of my favourites from the afternoon at the brewpub, which says quite a bit, because I usually don't like the style. I had this on tap at the brewpub in Colorado Springs, CO on 10-August-2003.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Ported from one of my early BA reviews.
It’s, well, amber. Fairly clear and on the reddish side if you look at it facing a light source. A ring of bubbles around the glass, but otherwise no head.
Sweet, almost like a kind of caramel candy. There’s a tiny bit of hops bitterness in the background when you really take a whiff, but malt dominates for sure.
Semi-sweet, very much makes you think of something in the 50-60L crystal malt range. The malt flavor really dominates, with the hops subtly adding a slight bitterness and filling out the back end.
If you close your eyes, ignore the flavor, and just think about texture, the first thing to come to mind is milk. Not quite as thick as cream, but fuller than a standard ale.
Reasonable. I can certainly drink one of these, I could probably drink two, but the flavor is complex enough that I might need a break. Oddly enough, I feel like my break could be heavier as easily as it could be lighter.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
In taster from brewery. Looks like hazy amber. Smells like cascade. Tastes like cascade on the front palate then warm amber malts on the sides. Overall 7 of 10.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
On tap @ PC. Dark red orange appearance with a cream colored head. Caramel malty aroma with medium piney hops. Fairly piney, bitter hoppy flavor over a mild to medium caramel malty body.

This is a really good smooth amber with a fair amount of hops to please me. I had this one many times with my dinner and it’s always fresh and satisfying. I recommend this one to all amber lovers.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at the brewery. Poured a deep amber-brown color with a thin off-white head that left some light lacing. Sweet, toasty aroma with soft hints of caramel paired with some lightly piny, earthy hops. Brash, toasty entry dominates the flavor for the most part with some caramel trying to peak through before the moderately bitter, earthy hops take hold and linger into the finish. Moderate carbonation and average mouth feel. Overall, this beer is probably decent, I just really am not a fan of the abrasive toasted grain flavors found in this beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Shaker pint pour at the brewpub. Pour is dark golden brown, nice off white head. Aroma of toasty slightly sweet, biscuit maltiness with decent hop bitter behind that. Taste is the nose, slight sweet, biscuit malt, hop bitterness. At the end, there is a nice burnt roasty element. Palate medium to thin, drinkable with a lot of character. Nice amber.
