Bottle #76 at The Barley Wine Tasting, London - thanks to Kenneth for bringing this one. Pours hazy ruby with a light, beige cream head. Nose of rich alcohol, toasty caramel with touches of ripe citrus and spicy herbs, pine, honey. Big sweet flavor with sugary bread, rich toffee, bit of vanilla and honey, very creamy toffee. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish with sticky sugars, some spices, some citrus, dry bread, toast, more honey, faint cocoa, toffee. Lots of nuance here. Delicious.

UPDATED: FEB 9, 2013 31st August 2012 THE Barleywine tasting. Opaque dark brown beer, good bubbly tan head. Smooth palate, a little soft and airy. Nice toffee malts with a trace of tangy fruits including cherry. The bourbon is quite mild. Semi dry finish. Decent. 3.7
20th January 2012 Sweetish dark toffee, Nice dark fruits - prune and fig. Trace of vanilla before mellow whisky. Rich and tangy. Finishes with more dark toffee, this time slightly tangy. Touch of red berry fruits. A little aniseed alcohol but no real heat. Great BA barleywine. Very very drinkable.

Bottle @ THE Barley Wine Tasting. Cheers to Ken for the pour! The pour’s deep brown with a medium white head. The nose is cocoa powder, cherry, toffee and light bourbon. The taste is straightforward for a BA Barley Wine - plenty of malty toffee and cherry flavors, light chocolate with shocks of vanilla and wood. Full body, a sipper. Nice, but not a standout on the evening.

The nose is cherry, plum, raisin, red grape, wood, light bourbon, toffee, lightly toasted coconut and jam. The taste is toffee, caramel, wood, bourbon, plum, raisin, cherry, blackcurrant, raisin, oak, dryness and chocolate, with a warming bourbon finish. Full body and low carbonation. A flavoursome, fruity barley wine.
