He would have made it to the top for this one. Darker in color from the roasted barley. A strong Brew with a smokey flavor from the Peated Malt.

Tap. Pours deep, dark brown with average, creamy tan head; good retention and decent lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, earthy hops, and dates. Flavor is light roast malt, dark fruit esters, and light earthy hops with faint caramel and cinnamon; dry finish. Medium body and low carbonation.

Hand pumped from cask to aerate at the brewery. Dark brown, almost a black hue. Aroma of coffee & slightly roasted malt. Head is light brown & creamy, fair lacing & mostly diminishing. Moderately sweet with complex peat flavor not unlike sipping a fine aged scotch. Medium to full body, texture is not a creamy as I would expect, carbonation is soft. An enjoyable Porter that is one of the standards Phantom keeps available year round.

ON tap at the brewpub. Pours dark brown with a creamy, long lasting, off-white head. Aroma is of toasted malt dark fruit, coffee, vanilla and dark chocolate. Body is full and creamy, no carbonation. Taste is toasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, coffee, dark fruit. Long bitter finish. Good porter, but I don’t like it flat.

Cask at brewery. Solid porter. Light smoke on nose but mostly dark sweet malts. Smoke much more pronounced in taste as peaty earthy smoke on good classic porter core. Dark brown with heavy lacing. Cask treatment works great.

Pour on tap at the brewery, dark brownish black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of earth, peaty notes with some slight smoke but this part was restrained, more biscuit and bready yeast, spice, some cocoa and coffee notes, lots of roasted malts as well. Taste is restrained on the peat but that worked for me, some cocoa, biscuit, bread, some hints of caramel, nutty notes, roasted malt finishes it off with a fairly bitter and dry finish.

Sampler at brewpub. Pours really dark brown with small tan head. Aromas of roast, chocolate, light coffee, and some smoke. Flavors of roasted malts, dark chocolate, light coffee, roast, and good dose of smoke. Body is thin. This is like a flavor explosion compared to the rest of their line up.

Deep brown in color. Roasty malt aroma and flavor, very black-coffee-esque.

On cask at the brewpub. Pours a very cloudy dirt brown with a tan head. Aroma of lots of roasted malt, some chocolate/cocoa. Flavor of bitter chocolate, sweet oatmeal malt, less roasty than the aroma suggests. Very chalky palate. Interesting porter. 8/4/7/4/14 [3.7/5]
