3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a dark brownish to black color with little head. Smell is lightly malt and smoky from the peated malt. Taste is peaty, smoky and with a thin malt flavor. Body is also thin. Not bad, and a good light smoky flavor. Drinkable, but not my preferred style.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
had in july while in the springs for my son Flemdawg wedding on 7/2.from the tap. poured a nice dark reddish brown, with a small light tan head with a small amount of lacing. aroma malt, coffee, caramel. flavor malts, smoke, caramel, cola, and a touch of alcohol, which was a 1st from all the beers I tried. this could have been a better beer if it was little bit more robust in the flavor

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Dark amber in colour, a pretty dark shade of brown when held up to a light. A thin tan head develops on the pour and lasts for a while. This was definately contained in Nitrogen before, as its characteristics are very noticeable. Sweet and roasty malt aroma, with some of the sweetness smelling like caramel and root beer. Roasty malt flavour, very watery (some nitrogens will do this) with some smoked flavours, but not much. Finishes with a malt-bitterness. Not a great smoked beer, nor porter. I don't know how this one a silver medal at the GABF in 1994, but maybe they changed their recipe a bit or maybe there were only two contestants for the Smoked category 9 years ago :-)...I was only 13 at the time as well! I had this on tap at the brewpub in Colorado Springs, CO on 10-August-2003.

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at PC. Poured a dark brownish black....slight beige head. Mostly malty aroma, maybe some coffee notes, peatiness. That’s where it ends. Flavor is a let down....mostly roasted malts, slight bitterness, maybe--just maybe some smokiness. Thin mouthfeel....disappointing.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Tasted in Colorado (Colorado Springs). Tasted at Phantom Canyon Brewing. Like most porters tasted in the magnificant state of Colorado, this one, visually represents the style, but using the other 2 main senses, it seems more like a light-weight candidate. Very little aroma profile. Light brown colour, barely meets the cut for a porter in this context. Flavour was non-discript. Couldn’t pick up much in it at all.

1.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20
Super-dark brown with a solid and resilient head. Silky on the tongue. Relatively bitter, but no real overriding flavors. Bit thin. Poor attempt.
