3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
651mL. Pour is a lightly hazed tea amber with a medium, yellowish, creme head. Spotty lace. Cedar and sharp lemon, citrus, melon nose. Taste is wildly bitter, very nutty with loads of dark chocolate and nut skins/shells. Softer mouthfeel. Quenching and bitter with no cheesy hops at least. Not bad.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Woohoo, 50th rating for this one. Bomber with a nice label and the funny remark "sextuple hops brewed". Crystal and caramel in the nose, picking up more doughy and spicy notes, a lot of earth and darker roast, but not a lot of fresh hops, probably signs that this bottle has gone down hill a bit. Some booze showing. Pours a gradient dark amber with a quick-developing, tiny-bubbled tan head, almost Belgian in character (crossing my fingers crossing my fingers). Taste is nice and bitter, some light sweetness to balance but thatís dwarfed by the numbing alcohol. Light mineral, barely fruit, still tastes fresh even with such subdued hops. Fullish body with a little grit and pleasant late-coming chest warmth. Rating with a grain of salt, and desire to try this on tap some day.

16th February 2011
Surprisingly dark brown opaque beer. Little pale tan head. Light crispy palate. Good malt base, even a touch of roasted malt. Piney bitterish hops on top. Trace of hop fruit. Dry finish. Toasted malt again in the aftertaste. Interesting beer. Just not a very pale India Pale Ale!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Wegmans. Pours clear orange with a small white head that dissipates rather quickly, leaving some sticky lacing and a film. The aroma is really fresh wit ha lot of hoppy, flowery notes with a good bit of citrus. The taste is very citrus forward with a nice sweetness on the finish. The hop bitterness is in the but itís really smooth across the tongue. Palate is a little on the thin side for 6.5%. Solid IPA.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Hops, lemon, lime, pinesol, flowers, grass on the nose. Cloudy mahogany pour with good lace. Taste is all hops in your face. Citrus fights through but not enough. Newbold is definitely the superior IPA from Philly brewing in my opinion.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
1 pint bottle from Wegmanís Malvern - pillowy white head, reddish body. Aroma of fresh hops, butterscotch-diacetyl, buckwheat. Taste is a tinny bittnerness that is a little offensive but grows more mild with a little bit of breathing. Oily mouthfeel that tastes of bitter hops; a little musty. Doesnít have the depth of a top-tier IPA. This is unimpressive. Too bitter and dry for my taste and lacks the bouquet usually attributed to a "fresh hop harvest" IPA. Too bad..

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Capones. Bottled 3 days ago. Pours cloudy gold with fluffy off white, nearly beige, head with tons of lacing. Nose is flowery, light citrus, and resin. Taste is more of the same with decent bitterness in the finish. Probably my favorite PBC beer. Look forward to this fresh local treat every year.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
jumped out of the bottle. A lot of sediment and quite cloudy. great Head and copper color. Floral odor but not very strong, very nice but quite bitttel on the second pour from the bottle. Undoubtedly would have been more mellow if decanted.

bomber bottle courtesy of my man watson1977. this one got lost in my cellar so take this review with a grain of salt as i donít think i got the freshest flavor out of her.. pours a clear amber color with a thin white head. aroma was a little malty with floral and citrus hop notes. taste was of pale malt and spicy hops, borderline astringent. i got an odd aftertaste from this one.. earthy? anyhow i enjoyed it, just have a feeling it would have been better had i drank it sooner.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bomber with spookgolds. Orange, hazy pour. Fresh cascade hop aroma. Citrus, grassy. Sweet considering the hop additions. Grapefruit, some tropical fruit flavor. Smells better than it tastes. A bit thin. Orange zest.
