COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Joe is not your average beer. This ale is brewed with locally-roasted, fair trade coffee, Dark Munich and chocolate malts which combine to create a well-balanced, flavorful Porter with a fresh roasted coffee aroma. Good from the first drop. We use 2.5 pounds of coffee in each barrel of this robust porter. Available in both bottles and kegs for a limited time each fall and winter. 5% ALC/VOL

12 oz bottle from a friend’s sampler case at a weekend at Hidden Valley. Overall it was thin and insipid, lacking the intensity that a coffee porter should have.

Ok porter. Not a big fan of coffee as usual. This one is pretty light and pretty simple. A little malt flavor comes through and some hop balance at the end. However, its a pretty straight foward experience - consisting of, as advertised coffee flavor.

Ehhh. Pours reddish brown. Aroma is mostly bitter chocolate with some coffee. Rather thin in mouth with some coffee notes. Finishes dry / tart bitters.

Bottle at Tattooed Mom. Dark copper black but not opaque. Fizzy white head that disappears quickly. Decent strong coffee flavor with a juicy malt backbone. Raisins. Plums. Burnt toast. Orange peels. Tootsie Rolls. More interesting coffee beer than most.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Oak Tree, 12/6/12

Aroma: The nose has lots of roasted coffee, with some chocolate malts, and a little earth
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with a small beige head that leaves scattered lace
Flavor: The taste is much the same as the nose, it is mostly roasted coffee, with a lightly bitter finish
Palate: Medium bodied, though a touch watery, with average-plus carbonation, and a light dry finish
Overall Impression: This is not a bad beer at all. The coffee presence works pretty well, and the beer itself works pretty well overall. It’s nothing stellar, but I found it quite drinkable, and fairly well made.

Pours a nice dark color into a tullip glas from a 12 ounce bottle. Aroma is dry of coffee, roasted malt, hops. Flavor is initially bitter with a dry flavor and some roasted malt, mildly creamy with the tingle of carbonation. Body is medium overall no sour taste at all. Carbonation may be above average. Overall a solid beer.

12oz bottle pours a watery, but mostly opaque black with one ring of beige head. Nose of mild coffee, brown sugar, malt, a little brown bread. Flavor is the same, Little nutty, coffee, brown sugar, malt, bread. Medium bodied, dry finish. Neither the base beer nor the coffee are exceptional, but this is a decent little coffee porter.
