3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 micronaut129 (143) - chalfontborotowntonbergville, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 9, 2012
Deep brown in color, similar to that of coffee.
A hard pour only produced a thin, small head.
The head was tan in color and faded away rather quickly leaving behind little to no lacing.
The aroma was, of course, that of black coffee and sutle roasted malts.
Taste is of black coffee and roasted malts. Leans more to the coffee then malts.
Mouthfeel was thin with some bitter dryness towards the end. The body was smooth.
A good beer with good flavor. Body seems a bit thin for a porter.

Poured into an English pint glass from a 12 ounce bottle undated.
A: Very dark opaque brown with a towering foamy, rocky, tan head that overflowed from my glass despite a mild pour.
S: Faint coffee and a slightly sweet faint lactose.
T: Coffee through and through, slight sweetness coming through but mostly rather dry.
M: Medium bodied with fizzy carbonation.
O: Wouldn’t buy this again, but it’s true to it’s name. Cheap enough to be worth trying.

UPDATED: MAR 12, 2012 Bottle. Aroma of heavy malts of coffee and chocolate. Very bitter coffee taste. Frothy and heavy carbonation. Tastes like a milkshake.

This was excellent as a cask gravity pour. Soft carbonation, lots of interplay and although not in the description, the batch I had seemed smoky and rich with strong coffee. Excellent.

Clear, near black in color, with a thin tan head. Strong coffee, light chocolate aroma. A little bit of sweetness on the tongue but mostly bitter. Thin palate, high carbonation, dry finish.

Better than expected. Pours a coffee black to brown with a touch of tan head. Nose and taste are fairy coffee heavy. Not a beer I would seek out, but certainly one I would drink again.

Bottle. Pours black with a small white head. Smell is an overload of coffee.. which I love. The taste is mostly coffee with some minor chocolate notes. This is a style that I love and this is a very solid offering.
