3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 bp (720) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 14, 2008
Bottle: pours a clear golden amber color with a frothy white head, light floral hop aroma, taste is mildly hoppy, just a touch bitter and pretty smooth. A nice IPA.

On cask at Teresa’s Next Door. Poured clear, light amber with creamy bone white head that left solid rings of lace. Started with notes of caramel then finished with a moderate citrus profile. Respectable hop/malt balance. Pretty toned down for an IPA, but very sessionable. Better than its rating to date.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 HopBackDoc (472) - Hatboro, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 11, 2008
Pours a deep clear amber with soapy white head. Mild floral hop aroma. Good malt backbone with pine and citrus hop flavors. Medium body with a slightly bitter finish. Decent IPA.
3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 PWalk (337) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 8, 2008
I took a Philly variety case with me on a camping trip this past weekend and this beer was flat out the best in the case. Very tasty with a good balance of floral hops with a nice malty backbone. Went down smooth with a little heat at the end. Great label too!

Classic malty version of the IPA style. Nice easy drinking, but hoppy enough for your West Coast IPA style fans. Very good for a introduction of the style to novices, all around good beer from the Bartons. Cheers to my hometown brewery.
3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 JFGrind (1715) - Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 27, 2008
I thought this more of an English style than American style IPA. Bitterness is evident, but not over-the-top. I enjoyed Newbold IPA. Happily consumed @ a Memorial Day party with all four Philadelphia Brewing Co’s brands in the coolers. This placed third in the race to drink all the PBC beers present that day due to its low demand among macro beer drinkers.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 hopdog (7658) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 24, 2008
12oz bottle. Poured a medium and clear amberish / orange color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of citrus (oranges), spicy hops, and some floralness. Tastes of citrus and light caramel. Some lacing left on the glass. Light bitter finish.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 TomDecapolis (4223) - Lawrence, Kansas, USA - MAY 24, 2008
Pours a translucent golden amber with a medium foamy off white head that left sticky lacing. Aroma of iced tea, floral, light citrus and some caramel/nuts. Flavor of caramel, lemon, light pine, some hop flavor but generally toned down for an IPA. Bitterness seemed about right, but for an IPA this one missed the mark.
1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20 GuilTTy (718) - Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA - MAY 24, 2008
picked up a 6 pack of these at Canal’s near Princeton and I’m just now trying to figure out what to do with the remaining five. Looks OK in the glass with a clear medium amber hue and light khaki head. This train started to wreck when I let the beer get too close to my face. Aroma of musty basements and stale hops. Unfortunately, there were no surprises after that. Poorly balanced and generally unpleasant. No malt to speak of. Thin texture and unremarkable finish. Should be named Newmold IPA.

Bottle. Deep coppery pour with 1-finger off-white head. Nose is piney hops, caramel malt, some fruit, pineapple. The palate is fairly rich, around medium in heft, with a solid pineapple/pine needle hop flavor matched by decent amounts of malt. This one isn’t a world-beater, but it is not too shabby at all.
