Cask at GBBF08. Weak caramelly aroma. Hazy amber colour. Good malty flavour, some caramelly and grassy hops. Hint of yeast and berries in the aftertaste.

On draft at the GL. Pours a clear coppery gold with a medium white head. Aroma of grassy notes with light citrus and pine. Taste of earthy and grassy hops with hints of light pine and citrus. A nice local IPA.

THOUGHTS: Rather British. I don’t know where they got the idea that this beer was a crimson color. Nice take on the style. It was sort of right in between a British and American IPA. Very nice balance. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, light to medium orange with and average, slightly off-white head that mostly diminished, but left good to excellent lacing. The aroma was light caramel malt and orange juice; moderate to heavy herbal, orangey and lemony hops; with a little les pine hops; light doughy and earthy yeast and slight honey. The initial flavor was light to moderately sweet and bitter; while the finish was sweet and rather bitter with a long duration. There was a little honey, candy, caramel malt, orangey hops, pine hops, resinous hops, earthy hops, a little yeast, lemony hops and a little toast. The medium body was a little syrupy and then fairly dry with fizzy carbonation and a dry and slightly metallic finish.

Solid west coast juicy hop aroma, citrus forward and inviting. Sticky white head, great lacing, orange gold in the center, damn near clear on the edges. Strong with hop character, soft malt and light in body. Grapefruit everywhere. More like an XPA.

12oz bottle, from Capone’s (Norristown, PA). Poured golden amber, capped with a moderate sized beige head. Modest hop aroma with earthy and piney notes, along with some caramel malt. Flavor is predominantly piney hops, with grass, earth, and just enough caramel for balance. Long earthy hop finish. A nice, very drinkable IPA.

I took a Philly variety case with me on a camping trip this past weekend and this beer was flat out the best in the case. Very tasty with a good balance of floral hops with a nice malty backbone. Went down smooth with a little heat at the end. Great label too!
