Commercial Description:
From a true "city of neighborhoods" we offer our take on a "biere de mars, " or a ruddy farmhouse ale. In true Philadelphia fashion, European and American ingredients are melded into a complex, ruby ale with flavors of toasted malt and rye. It's the perfect accompaniment for some quality time enjoyed in the backyard (or on the front stoop) of your urban farmhouse.

Bottle. Pours copper with a thin off white head. Sweet malty aroma with a hint of fruit. The flavor has toasty malt, a spicy rye hint, light sweetness and a dash of floral hops. Nice.

Pours a dark reddish amber with a decent cream-colored head that recedes to a swirl and a collar quickly. There is little lacing. Honestly, I’ve never season a saison look like this one. The aroma is a bit more like a saison with some phenol sweetness. But the rye spiciness comes through as well and makes it a very interesting mix of aromas. The taste has a slightly toasted quality to it and the rye definitely shows itself with some healthy spiciness, especially in the finish. There is a bit of the Belgian yeast sweetness underlying things and the different tastes almost come together but not quite. The mouthfeel is smooth with the rye but also sweet and with lots of carbonation. I’m not exactly sure what to make of this beer. I personally like this one but more for it’s originality than anything else.

Deep bronze, dark but clear with ruby highlights. Pillowy beige head leaves excellent lace. Dark roasted grains in the nose, a little nutty with caramel and just a touch of coffee, mild floral hop undertones. Nuttiness follows through in the flavor, decent malt character and balance, finish leaves a perfumed tang.

Gushed. Ouch. Pours a wonderful deep reddish brown with an obviously overcarbonated off-white head. Smells somewhere between an amber/red and a saison. Plenty of spice, but with an obvious caramel malt background. Tastes similar to the aroma, with some spice, a fairly weak malt backbone. Palate is somewhat watery, but acceptable. Aftertaste is unpleasantly yeasty. Glad I got to try it, but I can’t say I’m impressed.

pours a murky brownish color...not many ruby hues that i see. huge foamy head! outstanding retention. malty aroma with stringency...soapy alcohol...slightly metallic. light rye up front but the finish is muddled between hoppiness and a yeastiness reminiscent of a wheat beer or even a weizenbock.

Pours a deep dark brown with a half inch thick tan foamy head. It looks a little like a cola.ARoma of malt, hops , a little fruity.Taste is hoppy. Rye is very intresting. The flavor is a little watery.
