Philadelphia Rowhouse Red

Not too bad. Nice malty sweetness with a bit of hop bitterness. Nice color and aroma. My favorite from this new brewery.

this i thought had a caramel,aroma with a red, hazy, appearance with a minimal head,it had a medium sweetness, with full body,and what i thought was a sticky, feel to average carbonation, long finish. i think it’s an enjoyable red for the backyard as avertised.

This bier de mars from Philly Brewing Company really packs a punch. It’s an excellent example of a full bodied farmhouse red ale. The aroma reminds me of waffles with maple syrup. The Rowhouse starts sweet and ends up hoppy. If you’re looking for a nice light summer brew, this ain’t it! Try the Kenzinger for that. I would recommend the red with a nice steak or pork loin. A great beer from an up and coming brewery.

Pours a nice red color with minimal head. Slight malt aroma but the bitterness was more than I expected for this beer (noted as ‘Philadelphia style’). More a pale ale with a dry hop flavor.

THOUGHTS: Very disappointed by this one. The first of the Philadelphia beers I’ve tried. It almost made me not try any more of them. OK, I wouldn’t go that far, but it’s a little harsh and has a band-aid like aroma to it. Didn’t really like this one that much. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured clear, medium to dark, brownish amber with an average to large, creamy, off-white head that mostly lasted and left good lacing. The aroma was light to moderate malt, light resin hops, light earthy yeast, rye and either band-aid or solvent. The initial flavor was lightly sweet, moderately acidic, and moderate to heavily bitter; while the finish was lightly sweet and acidic, moderately bitter and slightly sour with an average duration. There was caramel malt, rye, slight lemon and metallic hops. The medium body was dry with fizzy carbonation and a metallic and light astringent finish.

12 oz bottle purchased at Oak Tree. Pours a mahoganey brown with a large foamy light beige head that leaves only a slight bit of lace as it resides. Aroma starts off with a big burst of yeast but after only a minute or two the aroma becomes dominant by a bubblegum sweetness and some underlying grainy notes. Palate is medium bodied with light carbonation and a very dry finish. Flavor of grainy bread, alcohol, and a good busrt of bitterness that seems more like biting into a grapefruit rind then enjoyable hops. The name of this beer means absolutely nothing, what the hell is "Philadelphia Style Ale" anyway??

Bottle: pours a dark copper color with a frothy white head, aroma of rye and hops, taste is slightly bitter and somewhat bready I guess (must be from the rye), some spices as well. Not a favorite of mine but not too bad either.

12oz bottle-pours a foamy light tan head and copper/amber color. Aroma is musty medium malt-slight caramel/peat, some odd yeast. Taste is a mess.
