Commercial Description:
From a true "city of neighborhoods" we offer our take on a "biere de mars, " or a ruddy farmhouse ale. In true Philadelphia fashion, European and American ingredients are melded into a complex, ruby ale with flavors of toasted malt and rye. It's the perfect accompaniment for some quality time enjoyed in the backyard (or on the front stoop) of your urban farmhouse.

12oz bottle-pours a foamy light tan head and copper/amber color. Aroma is musty medium malt-slight caramel/peat, some odd yeast. Taste is a mess.

Bottle. Deep copper pour with 3-finger off-white head. Nose is caramel malt, vinous fruit, some citrus and hops. Tastes caramel malty, with brown sugar, fig, and heavy vinous fruit notes. Fairly rich and creamy palate. Solid.

Poured a red amber color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malts, citrus, rye, pine, nuts, and caramel. Taste of caramel, crystal malt, citrus fruits, toffee, pine, toast, and nuts. Chewy mouthfeel. Solid, just nothing mind-blowing.

Bottle from oak tree. Pours a mahogany body with a thin white head. Sweet and malty with earthy tones and rye. Sweet simple minerals and malt. Grainy, very drinkable as i demolish this glass. Lightly spiced with ginger. Solid brew.

On tap at the brewery. Dark copper with a small head. Aroma is a bit spicy with cinnamon, caramel and pepper. Flavor is plasticy, similar to the Kenzinger. The beers are amazinly unremarkable.

Pours a mostly translucent copper/amber with golden notes and a medium creamy/bubbly off white head that left spotty lacing. Aroma of citrus, rye, toasted malt, spicy yeast esters, nuts and some caramel. Flavor of rye bread, spicy yeast esters, peppery, citrus, toasted malts, nice and dry, fruity, rye and other grains.

Thanks to Zathrus for this brew. Pours very dark red with a tall off white head. Floral fruity nose, soft caramel and rye with a light hoppy finish. Spicing is soft, but adds to the floral quality, mouthfeel is smooth with a soft mineral finish. Malty upfront with a balanced hop finish. Cherry and sweet berry flavors. This is a fricken awesome brew, excellent balance with an amazing flavor. I really cant see the low score, great flavor for a delicious sessionable brew.
