In 1682 William Penn signed a treaty with the Native American leaders of the Shackamaxon village, which later became the district of Kensington, where our brewery is located today. This is a rich, dark brew made with chocolate and Munich malts and aged on French oak. We hope you enjoy sipping on this full bodied imperial stout.

Bottled December 10, 2014.
Glass: Tired Hands pub glass.
Appearance: Black as night with a tall, dense and brown head.
Aroma: The aroma is mild but leans prominent with chocolate, hints of roast and a dash of vanilla. Aroma is nice smelling, but could use more umph.
Taste: Milk chocolate greets the tip of the tongue into bitter dark chocolate, hints of roast, a touch of oxidation and light vanilla. Good drinking beer.
Palate: Full-bodied, moderately carbed.
Overall: A great stout in its own right, but it’s an even better value at $9 for a 6 pack. Will be buying this again.

Not bad. Ok. Has a chicory flavor, but a little to charcoal flavored. Missing the smooth chocolate or coffee type notes this should have.

Bottle on 1/30/15. Pours jet black with a nice, silky tan head. Looks great! Nose is chocolate, soy sauce, and roasted malt. No hops. Pretty faint. Taste is bitter chocolate, chocolate, soy sauce, maybe some coffee, pipe tobacco, pretty savory. As it warms booze and plants come through. Silky smooth. Overall pretty ok. Silky smooth. Overall pretty ok.

12oz bottle from Manahawkin Spirits. Pours black with a finger of foamy tan head. Aroma is full of bitter sweet chocolate, dark roasted malts, oak, and leather. Taste of dry wood, black coffee, leather, cardboard, and hints of caramel. Liking the aroma a little more then the taste on this one. Still pretty solid though

"Overall, a slightly below average imperial stout, though it did have some age (maybe too much?) on it. Malty chocolate and raisiny sweetness were the dominant players with little to no hop balance. It tasted less than 10% would imply, and had a slighy soy character in the aroma. Not bad at all, but not great for my favorite style."

Aroma is great, appearance is a little thin, flavor is a good decent middle of the road stout. Quite nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sampled at Boise’s Imperial Stout get together, over 120 bottles to choose from. Going with the flow on this rating. This was one of my contributions to the cause.
