3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Strong brown head of quite small and dense bubbles. Bit sloppy on top but recedes slowly. Milk chocolate aroma along with some sweet malts and some smoked woody aromas. Color is black with a hint of crimson around the edges. Creamy and smooth in the mouth. Lots of smokey flavors, smoked grains, a bit of bitter coffee and some dark roasted malts. Soft malts a plenty with hardly any alcohol presence. Finishes smooth and malty with some lingering smoke and carbon. A pretty good impy.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a large creamy dark tan head that lingered and left great lacing. The aroma was burnt and roasty with notes of anise, faint chocolate, wood and a hint of vanilla. The flavor was vanilla, cocoa, wood and roasty malts with touches of smoke, rum and cherry underneath. The finish was long and the body was creamy, silky and fairly full. Nice.

Draft at Khyber Pass. Poured an opaque black with a slight tan foam. Head mostly disappeared but let a few stray islands of lace. Big dark chocolate and coffee notes off the top. Tastes of burnt Turkish coffee. Tootsie Rolls set on fire. Lots of black peppercorns. Charred oak planks. Annisette. Burnt pizzelles. Cigarettes. Tree bark. Tree roots. Vinyl. Nicely dark, but reads black and syrupy like an English Imperial and is missing any sort of creaminess one would expect with a Russian Imperial. Heads up with the 10% ABV.

22 ounce from 2011 summer Secret Santa. Pours a big black stout with tan head. Creamy taste. Some roast to it. Little bit of the tart as a finish. That tartness might be from the oak. Very nice.

Bomber, pours motor oil thick with a nice tan collar that eventually fades to a nice smoke ring. Aroma: toffee, vanilla, dark roast coffee beans. Probably the best beer Philly Brewing makes. Pretty smooth for an impy stout (i.e. less carbonation, moreso velvety). Not to say it’s flat...it’s still a lively beer and a damn good one, especially for the price. I LIKE!!!!!! borat style

PBC is putting out some consistently good offerings. This imperial stout puts a nice light touch on a style that is often overwhelming. Nice roast, and nice oak dryness, slight bitterness, to balance the malt. Smooth and creamy.
