Commercial Description:
The famous American poet Walt Whitman once described a particular Philadelphia sunset as consisting of, "...a broad tumble of clouds, with much golden haze and profusion of beaming shaft and dazzle." Sounds remarkably similar to our fragrant, satisfying take on the traditional Belgian white ale. Walt Wit's citrus and spice flavors deliver a transcendental drinking experience. Walt Wit is brewed with only a whisper of hops and a hint of herbs to set off the flavor of white wheat and oats.

Bottle. Slightly hazy but nevertheless quite golden with a thin white head that quickly subsides. Aroma is sweet orange peel almost reminiscent of orange marmalade, crushed coriander that provides a balancing crispness, slight berry-ish malt, just liminal bubblegum, and a slight minty floral hoppiness. Flavor is sweet orange blossom, light coriander, toasty pretzel with a light smokiness, leafy crisp hop finish. The toasty portion lingered in the aftertaste. Palate was good, not overgenerous, not over-carbonated which this style often is, and slightly oily like flower petals. I was surprised to enjoy this, the toasted flavor added depth and pleasantly balanced out the sweetness.

Bottle Pours clear light yellow with a deminishing white head. Hey where did it go. Produces okay lacing. Aroma is sweet with a cookielike maltness. Floral, and some hearty spices. Has a light carbonation. The flavor is good but doesn’t stay with it. You get the quick shot of good flavor then its gone...like the head. Has a light body. The finish id=s subtle at beast. No real lingering aftertaste. Not awful but I won’t search this one out.

It smells crisp and clear like a simple wheat without much addition to the aroma. It pours a cloudy dark color, but is still translucent with a small white head. It has a clear wheat flavor, not sweet or much addition of citrus or herb notes. This beer is more effervescent for a wheat beer as well.

12oz from some good folks at Swarthmore College - thanks, Steve! This is actually a reasonably tasty wit. Quite cloudy pour, with some decent carbonation, not much head though. Aroma of wheat, hay, mild citrus, and clove. The taste is sharper than your typical American wit, maybe because of the clove? Anyways, the finish is biting and tasty, which cuts against the anonymity typical to the American rendition of the style. Not quite a barbaric yawp, but a decent shout nonetheless.

This wit has way too much clove and as someone else said its "musty" with a barnyard feel. Nice label. The aroma has a nice lemony zest but the cloves kind of kill it.

12oz bottle. Pours a pale straw color, capped with a huge, frothy white head. Delicate aroma of wheat, lemon, flowers, vegetables, and a light dash of clove. Flavors of lemon, wheat, coriander, hay and some vegetal qualities. Just ok.

[Draft at EB&B] Poured a hazy golden color with a small, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus fruits, coriander, wheat, and lemongrass. Taste of citrus, coriander, spices, light honey, hay, wheat tartness, and a lightly dry finish.
