TipsyMcStager (862), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Jun 19, 2009 citrus, pine, floral notes in the aroma. Pours a clear orange with foamy head. Flavour is pine, caramel base and builds to a bitter finish. Not too bad, if somewhat unrefined, double IPA humulushound (21), British Columbia, Canada Jun 14, 2009 Poured out of a 650mL bottle into a chalice. Dark amber color with one finger of lacy off-white foam. Aroma is of a multifaceted floral and fruity quality which blends well into the flavor. Medium body, taste of citrus, bitter-sweet hops, grass and mild malt. Finish is well rounded and smooth. One of my favorite local Imperial IPAs as a British Columbia native. Gravelle (13), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada May 17, 2009 UMMMM! This is a big beer with a lot of hop, but it tells you that- Double IPA. If you like hop this is it! From the hops this beer has plenty of aroma and flavour. IPA on steroids! jbrus (4632), Delft, Netherlands May 7, 2009 Bottle@Hotel. Floral and fruity aroma with a hint of grass. Light brown colour, beige head, good lace. Pretty sweet, bitter, malty, fruity, light floral, hint of grass. Full and soft. Flavourful, powerful yet easy going. Great stuff. GeneralGao (2948), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Feb 27, 2009 Bottle. Poured a clear dark orange color. The head was off white. Smelled of toffee, burnt caramel, orange, and subdued pineapple. Medium bodied and slightly sweet with minimal hop bitterness. Overall, the flavor was somewhat bland, and included the likes of subdued orange, caramel, alcohol, and earthy root. The alcohol was dominant, even at 8.5%. Ughsmash (3669), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jan 24, 2009 Bomber thanks to Mark! Poured medium orange with a creamy, well-retained cap of beige head. The aroma picked up spicy floral and grassy hoppage over a caramel base.. smelled a little rough around the edges, but with nice components in there. The flavor had a pale malt and caramel base supporting a building and aggressive bitterness without much distinguishable character (perhaps some pine and cat pee).. finished with bitterness amped by alcohol. Medium-plus bodied with round, creamy carbonation on the palate.. too bad the bitterness got out of hand on the back. Skyview (3669), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Jan 22, 2009 Picked up 22-oz bomber from BC Liquor Store at Cambie & 39th. Pours a hazy orange amber brew with an averaged sized off-white head that has some nice retention and excellent lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, citrus zest, a hint of lemon, caramel malt, some pine and mild herbs. Taste is medium bodied, with more grapefruit and citrus zest that hides most of the caramel malt flavors. Finish is mildly bitter, semi-dry with some lingering grapefruit aftertaste. madsberg (4515), Søborg, Denmark Jan 10, 2009 Bottled. Amber coloured. Unclear. Dense light brown head. Pine, herbs, flowers and caramel in the aroma. And lots of it. Nice. Flavour again has all the hoppy characteristics, that pleases my palate. Pine, herbs and flowers. Again some caramel and some light fruity sweetness notable. Medium to full bodied. Very dry. Very dry bitterness in the end. Very refreshing beer, and definately the winner for me at the tasting.
