turboespresso (64), Port Moody, British Columbia, Canada Sep 21, 2009 Bottle. Clear and copper. Small head that diminishes quickly. Carbonation is ok. Fairly lean pale malt taste. Hop taste and aroma is HUGE. Very bitter. The 8.5% alcohol is hidden very well. This is the dominatrix of beers, she hurts so good. JoeZasada (133), Beaumont, Alberta, Canada Sep 12, 2009 Bomber Bottle. Pours a medium amber with a thick cream head. Aroma of caramel, grass, and pine. Tastes strongly of malt, with pine / grass like hops, and a bit warming. Finishes with a warm hoppiness. This beer is excellent, and is a fine example of a malty Imperial IPA. Well balanced, and very enjoyable! Nena (120), Seattle, Washington, USA Sep 11, 2009 Updated: Oct 21, 2009Dark amber, fairly lasting sudsy white head. Odor is of caramel malt with some grassiness. Not a lot of hop on the aroma. I found the flavor rather harsh and not as balanced as I’m accustomed to in IPAs and IIPAs. Hops are resinous and piney. Rather one-dimensional and hard to drink as IIPAs go. Savvy1982 (303), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada Aug 14, 2009 Bottle at Stella’s. Something is wrong with this beer. Nose is sourdough and yeast, very mild hops, sugar, caramel, popcorn. Palate is quite sweet, overwhelmingly yeasty, tastes of rancid citrus and malt extract. Overall a disappointing cake-like, yeasty mess. I truly hope this was an infected bottle. MrRoss (614), Delta, British Columbia, Canada Aug 2, 2009 The label says this is a "BIG" beer, and I have to agree. Nay, hate to say it, but this is a MAN’s beer. Darker than a regular IPA with a beutiful amber colour, and a lot more bite. Pours with a decent creamy head, too. There is one hell of a lot of hopping going on here. PaulHegedus (459), Georgetown, Ontario, Canada Jul 21, 2009 Bottle from Brewery Creek, Vancouver. This is a golden orange ale with a white one inch head. The aroma is very full: ripe red grapefruit, melon, orange, lemon zest. Mouthfeel is medium, oily. The flavour is full of slightly sour, fresh white grapefruit. It has a moderately bitter, lingering finish. TipsyMcStager (900), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Jun 19, 2009 citrus, pine, floral notes in the aroma. Pours a clear orange with foamy head. Flavour is pine, caramel base and builds to a bitter finish. Not too bad, if somewhat unrefined, double IPA humulushound (109), British Columbia, Canada Jun 14, 2009 Poured out of a 650mL bottle into a chalice. Dark amber color with one finger of lacy off-white foam. Aroma is of a multifaceted floral and fruity quality which blends well into the flavor. Medium body, taste of citrus, bitter-sweet hops, grass and mild malt. Finish is well rounded and smooth. One of my favorite local Imperial IPAs as a British Columbia native.
