Commercial Description:
This is a BIG beer. Mind Blowing ammounts of hops give this beer tons of flavour and aroma. Not for the faint of heart. The big mean cousin to the original Phillips IPA.

Sampled at a gathering of TN Ratebeerians a couple months ago; thanks to Springslicker for bringing it (obained via trade with Oakes). Smells like butter and a sack of wet malted grain, with a touch of piney hops. Foamy soapy head is thick and leaves a soapy but grainy lace. Initial flavor profile is grapefruit and aluminum. Bitterness lingers long in the finish, accented by flowery hops notes. The middle is vaguely winey, with grainy and dusty sugars wafting over the top. Before the finish fades into lonely bitterness, there is a strong push of dark pine right after the swallow. Lovely panoply of flavors and different hop qualities. Never belies the alcohol content, either; very smooth.

Pours a medium gold-brown with a small creamy head and good lace. Aroma - holy hops, Batman! Fantastic. Flavour is not surprisingly heavy on the hops - grassy, citrusy hops. Notes of grapefruit and orange pith over a warming amber malt base. Great carbonation, milky, creamy body. Excellent lingering aftertaste, strong and malty and warm with rich, complex hopping. All-round excellent beer, it will be fantastic in the summer!

650 mL bottle provided via trade with CapFlu. Pours sparkling and hazy amber with a small rocky white head, mostly lasting, good lacing. Aroma is average malt (meal, caramel), heavy hops (perfume, flowers, citrus), average yeast (soap, sweat) with notes of apple and peach. Medium bodied, average carbonation, metallic texture and a bitter finish. Light sweetness, harsh acidity and bitterness; soapy and sweaty yeast, harsh biting hops.

It does dry out rather quickly. That Piscator knows his stuff. Cloudy amber in colour. I liked the hoppiness. Thanks to Piscator for the sample.

Bottled sample via oakes. Hazy orange in colour with medium carbonation. Strong pine aroma with secondary notes of orange and dried out autumn leaves. A bit of mild citrus in the mouth, with some caramel notes becoming apparent as well. Dries out rather fast though with more dried leaf/metallic hop notes dominating the finish. Because the alcohol is so well hidden and none of the flavors are too over-the-top, the end result is an IIPA that tastes more like a regular strength IPA. Not bad, but I was expecting a bit more.

Thanks to SpringsLicker (via Oakes) for sharing this bottle with us at the Nashville Tasting! Poured a cloudy orange with a thin white head that leaves light lacing. Slightly sweet aroma of fruits and malts. The flavor had some IPA hoppiness mixed with some defined caramel malts. Medium body and dry texture. Slightly sweet up front but turns to the bitter IPA you look for.
