fredandboboflo (1395), East Setauket, New York, USA May 31, 2009 Bottle. Aroma of coffee, nuts, roasted malt, piney and citrus hops. Flavor again is decently bitter with solid brown ale notes. Pretty nice, and dead on if they were trying to make a hoppy brown ale. Gravelle (44), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada May 17, 2009 A beautiful marriage of IPA and brown ale. Hops from one and the richness from the other...can’t say enough! Fusion at it’s finest. TheJester (694), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Feb 15, 2009 650 mL bottle. Dark amber - not quite opaque. Small beige head. Lots of roast in the aroma, along with some coffee. Flavour is front-loaded: roast, sweet malt, hops. Thin at the end with a brief, slightly bitter finish. Creamy smooth and drinkable. luttonm (275), Belgrade, Serbia Sep 29, 2008 Dark amber color with beautiful pillow wheat-colored head. Blast of dark and roast malts but not too smoky and some hops to counter. Not exactly a great dark ipa, nor hoppy stout. Slightly tart, bitter finish. nice. iambeerviking (8), , Greater London, England does not count Sep 26, 2008 A tasty dark, peaty ale. Interesting in the trying to mix an IPA with a Stout.
The hoppines gives quickly to the malty chocolate with the hops coming back around pantani (1895), Salinas, California, USA Jul 21, 2008 Black with a thin off white head. Aroma is a light roastiness, caramel, light hops with chocolate, and some earthiness to it. Taste is a light hoppiness complimented by a roastiness and subtle chocolate. Pretty interesting stuff. bitbucket (2027), Kirkland, Washington, USA Jun 4, 2008 Bomber. Pours dark amber with an off-white head. I was hoping this would be a Rye IPA, but but it’s under-hopped for that. It sorta wanders into Schwartz-APA territory. There’s enough hop character to balance out the raisin and nutty chocolate undertones. Powertrip (183), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Mar 17, 2008 Fantastic Palate. Exploding with a floral bouquet fresh from the flower shop. Accents of citrus fruit and roasty toffee hit midway then a finish of strong hops sing a swan song.......a small fade of over-bitterness is the only slight. An average look and nose hide a treasure for sure!
