3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle courtesy of mgermani. Pours purple/ red with a thin white head. Smells of tarte berries, citrus, some wheat hints. Tastes of blackberries, lemons, oranges, tarte finish. The blackberry hints go well with the wheat character of this beer.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a deep clear blood red with a pale pink-tinged white head with poor retention. Aroma is hard to pin down, not a whole lot going on, vague berry sweetness, strawberry? Taste reminds me of cranberry juice a bit, nothing jumps out as being particularly blackberry-esque here. Odd diacetyl character strangely gels flavour. Is there wheat in this? Hefeweizen says yes, label says no, taste says maybe. Light on the carbonation, slightly creamy body, nice lingering mouthfeel isn’t oily but smooth. Romeogolf has come up with a great idea with the chevre. This is definitely better than the raspberry, but definitely watery and lacking real tartness & gravity. While I applaud the effort and I love the specials when Phillips puts them out, I would like to see this with more blackberries and higher gravity. I wouldn’t mind paying more for it, or buying it in smaller bottles.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
NOTE: this beer is not a Hefeweizen; the labels were printed before the selection of yeast was finalized. 650ml bottle bought at Brewery Creek and poured into a Granville Island Hefeweizen glass. Clear cranberry red with a tight, light pink head that rapidly dissipated. Moderately carbonated, tart, dry, and light-bodied; nose of red berries. Wheatiness in the foretaste, going to citrus, and finishing with cranberry & strawberry. Drank with some chevre & raspberry jam on a cracker. NIce!

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(650ml bottle) Sampled at Smith’s Pub in Victoria. Priced at $9 (approx. $4.90 at Spinnakers). Pours a reddish grape - cheap red wine colour with a white, dissipated head. Nose of strawberry-blueberry and wheaty undertones. Flavour is fairly tart and seedy upfront, settling into a cranberry finish. Pretty good. 6/2/7/3/13
