Draft - Grassy malty nose. Creamy white head and a clear light amber. A basic session amber, not exciting.

Pretty good for an intro to craft beer Pale ale. Pours a light brazen amber with a fluffy white head. The nose is sweet and mildly hopped with a hint of malts. Odd fruity notes in the aroma I cant put my finger on. Sweet and lightly dry on the finish. Overly boring but a nice mild hop and light malt. Definately could put away a sixer real easy.

341ml brown bottle. Medium gold pour, clear, good sized white cap with sticky edges. Nose is fairly flat with house yeast aromatics, a bit of caramel, slight grain note. Taste has dryish grains, caramel sweetness and a little orange. Finish has grains lingering and a trace of grapefruit hop. Light body, high carbonation. A bit phoned in, not really that interesting.

This juuuuuust makes a three on my scale, thus making it an OK beer. Some people seemed to have problems with stale versions; it’s been fresh for me. A Pacific Northwest take on an IPA that’s for sure, you can smell and taste the grapefruit, quite earthy, the carbonation is what you’d expect with an EPA. That’s really the only thing that ties it with that style for me.

341ml bottle pours a deep amber color with a finger of off-white head that retains well and leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel and floral hops. Taste is caramel malty sweetness that dominates over the hoppy bitterness and nutty finish. Medium bodied with nice carbonation providing a nice mouthfeel. A well done amber ale worthy of a great tasting experience.

Hazy amber. Woody, berryish aroma. Slightly doughy malts and crisp hoppiness. A bit watery but with a light fresh-crushed grain aroma. A touch light for what I want in a pale, but not bad.

While I’m not usually anything outside of an IPA drinker I found myself knee deep in this beer over the course of last night at Bartholomews Pub in Victoria during the Super Bowl. Very smooth bearing a nice straw head, this beer very much lived up to it’s definition as a classic "Session Beer". Never thought I would go back to an amber ale as my go to, but when push comes to shove this buck hit the spot. Kudos to Phillips Brewing for making a classic Ale that even an IPA drinker would take down again.

While I’m normally an eighth degree blackbelt in the art of Hop Fu, every once in awhile I like to sip something with less chop to the palate. This Beer is a beauty. Well balanced, a crisp full flavoured ale with a pleasant palate and finish. Nice white head with lacing, looks gorgeous in sunlight. This might just be that Session Ale I was looking for. Nice job Phillips!

A really nice, smooth session ale. Bright amber colour, decent head and great lacing. semi-sweet nose with a touch of dried fig. Body is a nice medium level with a fruity and almost nutty flavour. Tastes like another.
