Pours darker than an an over due tax bill with a foamy milkshake style cap. I shoved the glass under the nose of Mrs Tiki & she recoiled, which is usually a good sign for a hop head like me. Taste is blackened malts, watery coffee, leather (what, you saying you havenít licked leather?), & bitter hops. Some reviewers below me are complaining about lack of balance & I have to disagree, as this walks a nice tightrope between styles. Highly drinkable.

From a 650ml bottle. Pours a huge frothy tan head and has a dark brown appearance with ruby highlights. Thick patchy lacing. Aromas of roasted barley malts, earthy hops. Flavours are actually quite hoppy with notes of citrus hops, bready and sweet malts. Slick and creamy mouthfeel.

Gluepot (110) - Ontario, CANADA - MAY 16, 2015
A very tasty thick and roasty variation on the Black IPA theme. The overall taste profile features a nice marriage of slightly bitter coffee and chocolate elements with gripping hops, toasted malt and a touch of cherries and cream. There is a strong sub-taste of mollasses or dark toffee, but it is not too sweet. The body is thick and satisfying and the significant effervescence punches up the taste. This blend works really well for me.

Brown and black pour. Big hoppy west coast style brew a touch of molasses too. Hoppy and citrussy palate with toast and sweet caramel. Nice big brew.

The beer pours a solid dark brown with black edges and a generous light tan coloured head. The aroma is grapefruit hops, roasted malt, and coffee. The mouthfeel is medium full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is strong grapefruit notes with hints of weak coffee and cereal malts.

Thanks to cards04 for this massive black IPA. Pours deep brown with a massive tan foam. Hop aroma is pine, resin, and earthy. Plenty of bitterness followed by black and toasted malts. Not too dry or astringent. The bitterness returns to finish things off. May I have another?

Bottle from the University plaza LCBO. Dark dark brown / black, massive tan head loads of lace. Nose is malty sweet, a touch of vanilla even. Tastes sweet, quite bitter, pine hop. Really spectacular to style.

Bottle. Near black in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of pine, orange blossom, roses, dried leaves, and roasted malts. An odd blend of bitter leafy hops, char, florals, and hefty malts in the mouth. Could be considered complex, but there is a distinct lack of harmony for me. Some good elements here, but nothing comes together.

Black, with black cherry edge highlights. A picturesque amount of slightly off-white lacing on my tulip glass. The aromas are nice, but the weakest part of this beer. Less hoppy than expected, with mocha and red fruit in the mix. There is a bit of piney hops going on too. The tastes are explosive. The hoppy pine notes are there, but I was decidedly pleasantly surprised by the black coffee stout flavours. This is very much a hybrid beer in my opinion, and I am loving it. Overall, Iím not sure I have ever had a beer that is as much a cross-over beer as this one. Sure glad there is another bottle in my basement, and that I know where to find more.

Fair black ipa, fresh bottle from LCBO, but maybe didnít release quick enough. More roast than hops, smells good. Not so drinkable.
