Minimal aroma heralds mild taste. Pours copper-coloured with minimal white head. Medium-bodied and carbonated with a soft finish. Pretty basic stuff, despite the promise of a cool logo and higher than normal alcohol content. Not much to celebrate or critique in this decent, somewhat pedestrian offering.

Bottle. Frothy head on copper. Aroma is quiet for a big beer with touches of grain, hops and light caramel. Flavour is like the scent. Seems a bit quit fir Imperial. A bit of tinniness and linger woody hops and caramel.

Pours a clear dark maroon, with a small off white head. Smells of some sweet malt, and profound hops. Typical amber aromas here. The flavor was actually more on th hoppy side, but a tad bit bland. The hops were noticeable, but not too much else rally stood out to me. Some malt presence, but kindof weak.

Light malty nose. Dark brownish red colour, tastes mostly of flowery hops, but not overbearing. Not exciting, though.

Pours out a dark amber with a finger of yellowish head and a bit of lacing on the glass. The nose is sweet, mildly hopped with floral and grapefruit notes. A bit of caramel sweetness in the middle with some grapefruit and a nice resinous hop throughout. Overall, this is a good beer, but somewhat underwhelming and bland for an "Imperial Red"

Bottle. Deep ruby-copper with a nice, persistent finely bubbled tan head. Looks great. Aroma is quite hoppy, mostly citrus oil, some ripe tropical fruit. After a short time, a woody earthiness creeps in and becomes the dominant trait. Flavours of sweet caramel and bitter rind hop character with a dusty, almost muddy character that brings everything down. This became a chore to drink. I remember a couple years ago trying to find this brew all over Vancouver unsuccessfully. I was so disappointed. But not as disappointed as I am after finally trying it.

650ml bomber pours a deep amber color with a finger of off-white head that settles to some thin lacing on the glass. Aroma is mild with light roasted malts and floral hops. Taste is roasted malt bitterness with some underlying caramel malt sweetness and a moderate hoppy bitter finish. A very nice imperial red ale which was an enjoyable tasting experience.

650ml brown bottle. Deep amber-reddish pour, creamy off white foam, good lacing. Nose has some nutty and toast notes, a bit of caramel, pretty restrained overall. Taste is earthy malts, deep caramel malts, lot of leafy hop. Decent bitterness, big grassy bite and citrusy elements. Medium body, good creamy texture with decent gentle carbonation. Drinks very smoothly for an 8.2% ale. Lots of things I liked about this - nice colour, head retention and hop bite, but this fell a little short of my expectations, the malts were not deep enough to carry this beer.

Beautiful colour, not a lot of head. A hint of sweetness on the nose, backed by grapefruit and mellow woodiness. On the palate it is hoppy, followed by subdued fruit and the hops resurfaces again on the finish with a hint of woody spice.

Pours a rusty brown. The nose has a floral grapefruit, touch of pine, and malt. Starts with a light floral hoppiness, followed by a malty/raisin and finishes with a bitter punch then a smooth hop finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
