Guest bottle in their taster box. Bright lemony yellow. Bland aroma of grains, slightly bready. Grainy palate, clean but no real additional character.

Tap, brewery. Pours a clear straw yellow body with a small fizzy white head. The nose is a bit corn laced with a bit of bready malt and little, if any, hops. The flavor is pretty typical Pale Lager, mostly corn, a little grainy with some Cheerio like notes, minimal bitterness on the finish. Light bodied and fizzy with prickly carbonation. Pretty fun beer, probably not meant to be much more than a gimmick, but I thought the hommage was pretty cool. Don’t like it? Take off, hoser!

UPDATED: JUL 28, 2013 (355ml bottle) Part of the Phillips mixed box. Very corn flavoured and macro-brewery nose. I suspect this is supposed to be a funny take on Bob & Doug McKenzie’s movie ’Strange Brew’. Sadly, the joke is on us as this could be Phillips worst offering.

341ml bottle pours a hazy golden yellow color with a finger and a half of white head that leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is grassy with some grains. Taste is a grassy and spicy hop bitterness with a grainy malty sweetness that finishes fairly clean. A typical pale lager with a little extra bite to it.

341ml brown bottle. Pale yellow, a bit of haze. White foam. Nose is grainy and light. Taste has a sweet start, grainy, light grass hop notes. Dry end, a bit of lingering grass. A bit better than your average pale lager but nothing to go out of your way for.

Bottle - Light grain and corn. Pale fizzy yellow with a decent head. Fairly tasteless with a bit of grain and a surprising quick bitter bite that fades cleanly. A nice surprise for a pale lager, but still a pale lager.

Bottle. Clear yellow, small head that lasts longer than usual for the style. Nose of sweet grain and floral hops. Flavour is sweet malt, floral, crisp, slight diacetyl... tannic finish ruins it. Would be a very nice pale lager if not for that as I dig everything else about it, reminds me of the Italian lagers.

Reimer96 (1061) - Alberta, CANADA - AUG 6, 2013
Pours a clear pale yellow with a big soapy white head that lasts the entire pint and leaves tons of lace. Aroma of dme, corn, lemon citrus and pale malts. Taste is much of the same dme, corn and a sour emon finish... Not sure what phillips was trying to do here.

Rating #795 - Dec 2, 2013 -Beer 2 in the Phillips Snowcase. Bottle. 5%.Unimpressive pale yellow pour with a weak white foam that fades quickly. Aroma is corn, grasses, sweet malts. Taste is bland, corn and grains with a lingering sweetness into a smooth, and rather refreshing finish. Something here is appealing... pretty refreshing hoppy grassy bite. All in all, a light crisp lager that is super crushable.

Snow case beer number 2! Pours a pale yellow with a small dense white head with a lot of lace. Aroma is grainy, pale malts, and grass. Flavour is mildly bitter grassy hops, touch of citrus, grainy and pale maltiness. I like how this doesn’t have any corn or rice or so says the ingredients. Overall light, crisp and refreshing.
