Hazy amber, bubbly head, tiny lacing. Hop dominated aroma and taste. Doesnít linger though on the finish. Very well rounded IPA.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance: clear pale amber with one fingers of rocky ivory head, excellent retention and moderate lacing. (4/5) Aroma: pithy grapefruit, caramel malt, pine resin. (7/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate-high bitter. (8/10) Medium body, moderate carbonation, medium-dry slightly sticky and lingering bitter finish. (3/5)
I understand this is the replacement for Phillips Original IPA, so Iím counting it as a 1001. Nice IPA, but maltier than my preference. Not malt-forward, as such, but itís obvious that this is an older-style, still strongly English-influenced IPA. The big bitterness is there, but itís well-integrated and supported by the sweet caramel malt. The ABV doesnít really factor, and is apparent only as a mild warming at the very end. (15/20)

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
341ml bottle. Clear golden-orange in colour with a thin white head, light lacing. The aroma is of caramel, grapefruit, peaches. The flavour is of grapefruit, some tropical fruits, good hop bite, juicy. Bitter mouthfeel, medium body, moderate carbonation. Finishes long, hoppy. The grapefruit comes out more when it warms, quite drinkable.

Has a good foamy head and clear copper body. Aroma is malty hops, some sharpness and sweetness in the equation. Flavour is meaty malts with a good hop kick. Good balance and nice prominent flavour, good dry finish. Phillips does it again and delivers an IPA with a good malt punch.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft. Great IPA, general amber pour and standard caramel / pine resin hop aroma profile but balanced nicely. The taste is also nicely balanced. Some citrus notes throughout.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
One of my favorite IPAís. Surprisingly subtle aroma for itís taste with minor notes of caramel, grass and spruce/pine. Pours clear, deep golden-brown in color with medium body and tasteful bitterness. Slick, yet lively on the palate with a long finish in which you can still taste itís hoppy essence several minutes later. Beautiful.

Pint poured at schanks. Pours an amber color with minimal head. Nice aroma; strong smell of flowers and citrus. Bitter aftertaste. I like it. Drinkable.
