3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
14 oz glass at National Beer Hall. Clear deep golden, thin white head. Strong pine and grass, a little dank and citrusy, biscuit malt support, no Belgian character. Medium + body, pillowy effervescence. Pine, juicy peel, marmalade, oddly intense biscuit and cracker, peppery, very drinkable for alcohol content, no Belgian character; dry with pretty good bitterness and an oddly peppery cracker dank finish. Not what I expected. Still fairly good.

On draft at the brewery. Clear yellow amber, with a white head. Citrus, floral hops, grapefruit, a bit fruity, caramel, and slight Belgian yeast character. Ok, but uninteresting.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours clear pale gold with a fat two fingers of loose white head diminishing gradually to a thick cap, moderately heavy lacing. (4/5) Nose is grassy and floral hops, Belgian funk, indistinct fruit and spices. (8/10) Taste is moderate sweet, strong bitter, mild funk. (9/10) Light body, moderate carbonation, lingering funky bitter finish. (4/5)
This is probably on par with the best Phillips brews I’ve had so far. Decent balance of pungent hops and Belgian brett-like funk, with light malt supporting. Not as bright as Bottle Rocket, but the Belgian funk adds an interesting character singling this out from the rest of the Phillips stable. (17/20)

Delicious blend of a Belgian triple and an IPA. Taste of centennial. Lots of aroma and flavoring hops. Sweet malt and low bitterness for the hop flavor. 7.3% abv

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a golden colour with a long-lived white head. The Belgian yeast gives it a little more body and sweetness than a typical IPA, but there’s plenty of hoppiness to offset it. Overall, a very good blend of some Belgian style traits into an IIPA.

Bought this because of the label. Had a foamy long lasting white head. Well balanced beer.

650 mL bottle - says 7.3%. Absolutely beautiful pour - slightly translucent golden-orange with a fluffy white head that reduces but never disappears, giving each mouthful a bit of bitter head to contrast the sweetness of the liquid. The aroma doesn’t stand out, but the flavour is solid, with a nice balance of the malty sweetness, the yeast, and the hops. Very drinkable. A nice surprise.

What a cool beer. Lots of Belgian yeast/dough, some spice, syrupy malt and piney hop bitterness. Taste opens almost like a honey mead; big, pungent yeast, lots of spicy, boozy warmth, and a dry, piney, floral hop finish that subdues the alcohol warmth but lets it linger ever so slightly. Lots going on here, and it’s all very well-balanced. Good tasting beer, and it has a really cool label which greatly affects my opinion of the contents.
