mabel (2208), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 13, 2008 [1528-20080712] 355mL bottle. Muted orange hops aroma has fruity leafy hints. Hazy, orange brown body with a long-lasting foamy off-white head. Hoppy navel orange flavour. Medium body. Solid IPA, not too assertive.
(@ Volo; Toronto, ON; w/ jerc) theisti (1445), Leawood, Kansas, USA Aug 8, 2008 341 ml bottle purchased at "The Strath" Ale, Wine and Spirit Merchants at the Strathcona Hotel in Victoria, BC. Pour is hazed orange, golden and tan. Foam on the head charged up the glass on the pour, then settled in normally. Aroma of strong resin hop, pine, citrus and some nice earthiness. Taste is resembles the nose; much resin, pine and citrus -- balanced with a nice sturdy malt backbone. There is some earthiness in the malt as well, giving this beer almost a charcoal smokiness. All of the mentioned flavors integrate nicely, and the palate is serious enough to hold it all together, yet still drinkable. fiulijn (6720), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Aug 7, 2008 Draught at The Railway Club, Vancouver Hazy golden color; creamy head. Very nice hop aroma, delicate fruits (mango, oranges), creamy. Good toffee and caramel flavor, and strong bitterness; the hop comes with some resins (side to side with Big Kettle ESB, it has less aromatic hop, more hop oils, less sweetness). Good. crazychuck (16), Canada Jul 19, 2008 All-round classic IPA, with excellent presentation and colour. Hops are well balanced to the medium body, provided a clean taste. CCCP (16), , British Columbia, Canada Jul 19, 2008 Had this in a cask at Central City’s Cask fest. Very clear straw colour that looks fabulous in the light. Quick-falling head, soapy nose. Great big hops - very floral. This is a solid IPA. Quevillon (1433), Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec, Canada Jul 15, 2008 Bouteille de 341 ml partagé avec jerc et Mabel à Vole (Toronto), le 12/7/08. Arome d’houblon un peu amère, un peu d’agrume. Goût d’houblon tres amère, faiblement fruité et caramelisé. Bien mais pas assez savoureuse! Lubiere (3966), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Feb 21, 2008 A dark golden orange ale with a thin big bubbled head. A pleasant fragrant hops with meaty notes, mint, fresh. In mouth, a good balance of biscuit malt and floral hops, lingering pleasantly, not over the top, light berry notes. Nice offering from BC. Bieropholie. Ughsmash (3669), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Nov 15, 2007 Bottle thanks to CapFlu! Poured an explosive clear medium golden with a head that took up almost the entire glass. The aroma picked up more and more soapy notes as it warmed.. started out with dusty citrus fruits (tangerine and grapefruit).. floral came through as well. The flavor had more of the juicy citrus fruits.. grapefruit with a tangy tangerine twist.. floral bitterness was heavy on the back-end and finish.. tasty. Medium-bodied with oppressively high carbonation.. fills the mouth with foam.. nice use of citrus and high bitterness on the back.
