Thanks to Blankboy. Appearance: golden orange, hazy, snow white head, lots of visible carbonation. Aroma: super mango, strawberry, pineapple, a little yeast and some mild orange. Flavour: lots of initial carbonation, malt, pine, deliciously refreshing orange with a long bitter finish. Lovely.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Powertrip (758) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - SEP 8, 2010
Single bottle purchased in Revelstoke, BC...drank from the bottle. Nose: Dust - barnyard, faint hop, sour nut. Taste: Again medium sour....yeast? Hops that mingle with rye bread and a tight punch of dry bran. Really expected more from this. Perhaps the bottle was old.
4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 JoeZasada (255) - Beaumont, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 10, 2010
Bottle, ’hop-circle’ version. Pours a light amber with a thick white head that lasts. Aroma of hops - pine, citrus. Tastes very hoppy... moderate bitterness, lots of citrus and pine flavours, probably some dry hopping as well. Moderate malt body, slightly sweet. Finishes with a good hop bitterness, notes of citrus and pine. Very good!
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 pootzboy (1284) - Hawgville, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 29, 2010
Bottle from trade:
Pours a light copper hazed ale in the glass. Great sticky cap lasts and laces the glass.
Aromas of musty grapefruit and raisin bread.
Not overly complex but a boilerplate APA, Rich malting and decent cascade hopping give fair balance and a long bitter finish.
Not outstanding but very good as west coast IPAs go.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 roflyer (8) - Minnesota, USA - JUL 16, 2010 does not count
toast, spruce, barnyard, earthy, medium sweetness, medium to heavy bitterness, medium body, average carbonation
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 manuchampions (1154) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 23, 2010
Bottle from 16th St. Liquor in West Vancouver. I’ve had this so many times before with its original, Indian inspired label. The redesign is, I guess, smart from a marketing perspective, but it feels pretty gimmicky to me. Golden yellow with a good head, this beer is well carbonated as well, which really accentuate the hops. Adequate west coast hopping but is integrated well. Enjoyable but not a standout.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 mcberko (2192) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 14, 2010
Bottle, pours a hazy dark copper with a small white head. Medium hops aroma, with caramel malt. Flavour is more balanced for an IPA. Pretty good. Phillips’ other two IPAs are superior.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 PWheatley (119) - , Quebec, CANADA - JAN 2, 2010
on draft at the beagle pub. Pours orange with a minimal head which produced nice lacing for the whole pint. Citrus hop aroma and taste. Excellent IPA not to over powering but the hops are certainly there.
