Very black with fluffy soapy head and soft lace. Medium sweet chocolate and malt aroma. Somewhat overcarbonated and medium at best mouthfeel. Certainly chocolately but drying finish. CHocolate aftertaste.

A dark porter with a thick big bubbled moka head, receeding quickly. A nice moka chocolate aroma with notes of vanilla. In mouth, loads of chocolate, like Nestle Quick, sustained. Overall, a bit thinner than expected. Bieropholie Import.

This porter poured a black colour with a thick brown creamy head. To the nose there was coffee, cocoa, roasted malts and a nutty scent. First taste was smooth and creamy with immediate cocoa flavour. Slightly watery mouthfeel but with lingering coffee / roasted malt flavour. Very smooth and flavourful. Palate was roasted coffee flavour that lasted...

8/24/2007: Phillips Longboat Double Chocolate Porter is dark chocolate brown in color (near black) and opaue. It has a nice 2-finger foamy tan/brown head that quickly diminishes. The aroma is very rich and has tons of chocolate goodness. It smells like caramlized hot cocoa and is simple mouth-watering! The flavor is mostly chocolate with a hint of sweetness. There really isn’t any hopes of bitterness in the flavor though. The only real flaw of this beer is its medium-light body. It has a soft palate and a moderate level of carbonation which is good for the style, but it just neds more body to counteract the spotty thin and watery characteristics!

650 mL bottle (5.2% Alc/Vol. / Marked: 2 D[ec]) from Swans Beer & Wine Shoppe (C$5.45) in Victoria, BC, Canada and enjoyed at the Ambrosia Historic Bed & Breakfast Retreat (also in Victoria, BC, Canada). Rating #49 for this beer...

Dark brown body with thick, brown, creamy, luscious head. Deep chocolate dust notes play up the bouquet, segueing into a definite chocolate accented flavor. Not as heavy as expected, but creamy, smooth, and chocolatey. Wet finish.
