ours coffee black, almost no head, thin ringed retention, a couple of slow-moving CO2 streams. Cocoa powder and coffee on the nose. Disappointingly thin flavoured up front, transitions into chocolate/cocoa, super light malts, light roasted coffee, light cream, but an awfully thin and watery body and backbone. Finishes mellow roasted bitter with burpy CO2. Medium complexity, low-medium depth, good transitions, so-so carry, decent drinkability. Nose is better than the actual taste, not much oompth there.

22 oz. from liquor store in Sydney, BC. Does it have chocolate? Check. Is it robust? Check. Is it missing a palatable body like nearly every other Canadian beer I’ve ever had? Check.

This has a strange salty flavour that lingers after swallowing. Everyone has different tastes, I guess, but for me this ruined the beer. The chocolate is cocoa but not dark. Looks good, but a bad looking porter is quite rare really.

Darkest brown, no hue. Frothy light brown head fades. Cocoa powder aroma. Nice milk chocolate flavor, some fruitiness, no bitterness whatsoever. Softly carbed, light - medium bodied. Silky sweet chocolate finish. Great for desert or a nightcap. LF (Lagerboy Friendly)

650ml bottle pours almost black with some red hues shining in the light. Aroma is chocolate with some roasted grains and mild earthy notes. Taste is chocolate malty sweetness with a roasted grainy and earthy hop bitterness. Body is thinner than it should be and carbonation is light. Nonetheless, this is still a tasty porter.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Standard chocolate and coffee. Slight bitterness. Seeing a pattern with Phillips. Good flavor but palate is thin. Love to see a thick, "chewy" beer. Not bad though. Nice for those nights when you just want something simple and easy.

Overall I think this is a good good beer. Great appearance Nice ruby brown red. Good head which recedes to a thin film quite quick.. aroma is definitely cacao. The taste follows with strong chocolate cacao notes but the mouthfeel is well balanced with good carbonation for the style. A lil too much choco for me but is a nice addition to the character, and the roasted and caramel malts stand up to it. I’d have another.

Wonderfully smelling somewhat thinner than most porters. Chocotastic finish once you gulp it down doesn’t overpower the nutty taste but accents it well.

(Bottle) Pours dark brown to black. The aroma holds chocolate, sour milk and vanilla powder. The flavour is near medium sweet, light bitter and a bit acidic with notes of chocolate and sour milk. The mouthfeel is light and tart. Light bodied.

650, capped. Pours black with a light creamy tan rim around the top. Beautiful sweet malty chocolate nose. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Nice dark roasty mid palate with plenty of rich milk chocolate. It has a balanced and pleasant sweetness. Well placed finish.
