COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Schottleweizen is a brand new seasonal release named in honour of Ben featuring a dark malt base, a generous dose of hops brought to life with Belgian-inspired saison yeast. It’s lively, moderately sweet, and a little bit unconventional – just like Ben.

Rating #2238 - 2015.12.10 - Bottle #10 in the 2015 Phillips Snowcase. Pour is a dark brown with a fairly frothy beige head with decent retention. Aroma is light toffee, chocolate, with cocoa puff aroma, mild grassiness. Taste is smooth, malty, and quite light. Decent finish. Pretty good dunkelweizen.

Pours almost black. Nice banana and coffee aromas. More sweet yeasty flavours, banana and some bitter coffee flavours. A nice dunkel. A touch thin.

Bottle - Malty, toasty and syrupy notes. Jet black with a light brown small head. Molasses, syrupy dark malts and sweet. A bit too sweet and syrupy for me.

Aroma of roasted malts and dried fruits. Tasty malty, banana , dried fruit, chocolate, dried fruits, wine. In that order. Does not pour with a massive head, didn’t find it overly carbonated.

Visual: Pours dark brown with a dissipating small head, very thin ringed retention, lots of steady fast streams. Nose: sweet brown sugar malts, toast, slight sournesss. (lvl-7)-pungency Attack: crisp, fizzy Mid-palate: (lvl-6)-sweetness, (MAIN) toasted malts, molasses, brown sugar, cola, banana wheat Finish: malty sweet finish. Summary: Extremely easy-drinking. Sweet wheat caramel malts all day long. Alcohol totally stealth.

Thanks to Reimer for this. Pours dark brown with a frothy off white top. Aroma is nutty yeasty and slight chocolate. Taste is again wheat, a slight banana, nutty and chocolate. Pretty good but perhaps a tad too carbonated.

Bottle. Very dark pour, nearly black, with virtually no head. Aroma is like a Belgian strong dark, very malty with lots of dark fruits and yeast, plus a touch of hefeweizen spice. Flavour is fairly rich, fruity and yeasty with a lightly tart note at the finish. A lot of alcohol warmth for the ABV; must be that Belgian yeast. Doesn't quite come together for me, but a bold attempt at something a bit different.

Bottle into pint glass. Pours a clear dark brown colour with very little head. Aroma is a bit of toastyness but mostly pepperyness from the yeast. Taste is pretty much the same with some nice effervescents. Nice dark saison. -- rated via 'Find A Beer' for Blackberry 10

Aroma of dark fruits and malts. Dark brown/black pour with no head or lacing. Flavour of roasted wheat and malts, chocolate, dark fruits etc. Balance is off so knocked some points.
