Powertrip (65), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Mar 6, 2008 Disapointed with this one. Where is the maple as promised? Couldn’t taste barely a trace in an entire 6 pack. The cream is present but half-complete does not make a beer. On a note, the nose is inviting.
mgermani (598), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Aug 29, 2008 Pours a pale brown with a thin fleeting head and some lace. Aroma is light and sweet. I could almost imagine maple syrup, though I never really could taste it even in the original. Sweet and buttery tasting, with a hint of chocolate malt. Tastes almost like a bitter but with less in the way of hops. Minimal carbonation and a thin body. Very sessionable but unsatisfying. Not as awful as the Blue Buck, and the chocolate malt adds an interesting touch, but hardly their best. Enniskillen (1571), Port Angeles, Washington, USA Aug 17, 2008 Bottle given to me from Joss. Amber with a thin white head. Aroma is light caramel, faint chocolate, and malt showing. Taste is a light roastiness with caramel, and malt showing. Good session beer. IrishBoy (2129), Bakersfield, California, USA Jul 16, 2008 12 oz Bottle from Spinnaker Wine Merchants; Nose of uncooled hot cereal grains, light caramel maltiness, and floral hops; clear light brown with a medium beige head; flavor is light hop bitterness, maltomeal cereal graininess, and light sweetness at the end; body very creamy feeling. joss (3120), Garching b. München, Germany Jul 6, 2008 Bottle. Golden brown, off-white layer. Light nutella nose. Light body, good malt flavor, nut light roast. Quick finish. harpsm (12), Maryland, USA Jun 30, 2008 Apparently not retired, or possibly retooled, since I found it on draft in a bar in Victoria on 6/28/08. My first maple beer. Palate is somewhat light and not as sweet or syrupy as I thought it might be. The maple flavor is subtle but definitely noticeable. Other than the maple flavor, there’s nothing too interesting about this beer.
