Scotch Ale is the flagship of our Twisted Oak Stillage Series. Born as a rich, creamy strong ale, it is allowed to rest in wood barrels to mature and develop flavors slowly and naturally. The nose combines bourbon, American oak, and cotton candy aromas. Complex malt flavors framed in oak, with hints of vanilla, tobacco, and toffee. This is definitely a sipping beer, best served in a brandy snifter. This ale pairs well with dark chocolate and sturdy cheeses.

Dark, almost looks like a stout, but with very little foam. Large bubbles... Fizzed like a soft drink. Strong oak flavor. Nice.

Visual: Pours deep dark brown without much head, a very thin half-layer of micro retention, some fast streams near the perimeter. Nose: sweet caramel malts. (lvl-5)-pungency Attack: crisp-slick, incoming sweetness, whisky maltiness Mid-palate: fizzy, (lvl-7)-sweetness, (MAIN) caramel malts, white oak, alcohol detection, peaty backdrop Finish: vanilla, cola, sweet finish. Summary: Just an okay barrel-aged beer. Flavours seem muddled and there’s a lack of elegance in transitions and body.

Hazy golden amber pour with huge creamy colored head. Aroma of malts, vanilla, oak, toffee and bourbon. Taste of caramel malts, toffee, bourbon, vanilla, slight oak and faint peat. Medium bodied, higher carbonation, bourbon notes on the slightly cloying finish.

Translucent copper brown, head dissipates, but not too quickly. Mild scotch, malt, caramel, and spice aroma. Smooth and mid bodied. Immensely smooth combination of caramel, malt, spice, and prominent scotch. Finish is sweet scotch and mild hop. Quite liked this one.

A complex ale with notes of oak, caramel, and malts. Amber with minimal head and no lacing. Decent!

Thanks to Reimer for this. pours clear reddish caramel with a small white wisp. Aroma is sweet whiskey with caramel backing. Taste is a slightly sharp whiskey notes with caramel malt. Seems like the base beer isn’t big enough to handle the barrel treatment.

Bottle 650 ml. Pours clear caramel with copper glints. Thick soapy white head. Aroma: interesting mix of vanilla, bourbon, toffee, oak and malt. Taste is very similar. Very tasty at first but taste quickly disappear and leaves a dry mouthfeel. Some carbonation. Heavy beer.
