Scotch Ale is the flagship of our Twisted Oak Stillage Series. Born as a rich, creamy strong ale, it is allowed to rest in wood barrels to mature and develop flavors slowly and naturally. The nose combines bourbon, American oak, and cotton candy aromas. Complex malt flavors framed in oak, with hints of vanilla, tobacco, and toffee. This is definitely a sipping beer, best served in a brandy snifter. This ale pairs well with dark chocolate and sturdy cheeses.

Pours a dark copper colour with a slim white head. The aroma is light oak barrel and peat malt. Flavour is great little bit of molasses with a light wood vanilla also a strong scotch bite in the aftertaste mixed with a bit of smokey peat. Very interesting brew

Bottle 650 ml. Pours clear caramel with copper glints. Thick soapy white head. Aroma: interesting mix of vanilla, bourbon, toffee, oak and malt. Taste is very similar. Very tasty at first but taste quickly disappear and leaves a dry mouthfeel. Some carbonation. Heavy beer.

Bottle. Deep amber pour with a beige head. Aromas of caramel, oak and chocolate. Flavour is malty caramel with some oak, chocolate and subtle fruits, and just a touch of citrusy hops. Tastes more like an amber with some oak than a scotch ale really, but tasty and fairly well balanced. A little light bodied for the ABV.

A solid beer. Aromas of toffee and bread. Fruity notes too. Flavors are sweet and fruity with a dusty oak finish. Good stuff.

Bottle shared with northropfrye. Lovely toffee aroma, immense fluffy white head. Deep toffee colour liquid. A very lively beer, lots of carbonation. Little big boozy, sweet, delicious.

Maroon body frothy white head, good retention, large bubbles. Malty bourbon and oak on the aroma but pretty subtle. Taste is very oaky, sweet, some booze. Crisp sparkling palate. Basically an innis and gunn. Not bad.

Bomber, Pours dark red brown and clear with a coarse caramel head. Aroma is heavy peaty Scotch. Malt, nutty, whiskey and more savory than sweet on the palate. Definitely a sipper.

Pours clear chestnut with a foamy tan head. Brown sugar and bourbon aroma. Bourbon and oak taste with lots of sweetness. Like a little too much, IMO.

Rarely does Phillips disappoint me. Pours a nice chestnut brown, very little head. Sweet, oak-y nose, slight zest, heather. Taste is a bit sharper than I expected. Honey, caramel, tiny bit of biscuit. Honestly, it tastes a bit young and weaker than what I expected. Not bad, but Phillips has done better.
