Handpump at various locations. Gorgeous crystal clear gold coloured bitter with perfect white head that lasts through. Hoppy, floral aroma. Slightly thin body makes it dangerously easy to drink. Excellent complex bitter finish. Perfect summer drink.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Cask Conditioned at Banbury Beer Festival '04. Orangey gold, sl haze, big white head. Highly aromatic sweetly hopped beer, somewhat a Phoenix trademark. The base malts are subtle and do the job of delivering a dry orangey grapefruit flavour. Very good drinking beer.

Floral, citrus hops and biscuity malts in the aroma. Clear, yellow-golden body is topped by a decent and lasting, white head that coats the glass. Floral, citrus hops and biscuity malt flavours with well balanced bitterness in the finish. Light refreshing body with moderate carbonation. Cask sampled at GBBF 2005.

Aroma gives loads of hops, grassy floural and citruis all in the one go. Taste is pale malts from the sweetness, the citrus and grassy hops finish this off nicely.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On cask @ Odiham and Greywell Cricket Club, Hampshire. Delightful beer, very pale golden appearance with pleasant citrus overtones and a flavour characterised by a hint of dry hopping in the brew. Definite refreshing qualities and despite being quite light, it is is deceivingly flavourful and full bodied. Very drinkable.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask handpump at The Pilgrim, Liverpool, 29-11-08. Pours pale golden in colour with a white foamy head, appearance is crystal clear in fact. Some shallow but soft vanilla comes to the fore along with a creamy but dryness on the palate. A quite tasty beer that finishes with a dry and bitter swipe. A6 A5 F7 P4 OV14

Cask at the Anvil, Wigan. I love Phoenix beers. They have a lovely sweetness and use some big bagfuls of hops including Cascades. No idea which ones are in this beer, but there's quite a lot of them, high alpha at a guess. The beer comes out golden with a slightly hoppy nose, and the sweetish peardrop and hop taste is well balanced. "Dry as a desert" says the clip - well, maybe compared to their other beers it is, but not in the wider scheme of things. This lingering sweetness gives it a smooth malty body to balance the dry bitter hops and results in a lovely session beer. It stood up to Roosters Zulu, so it must be good.
