Sampled cask conditioned at Akkurat, Stockholm.
Very dark brown. Citric, balsamic honey aromatic, roasty aroma. Sweet with some burnt flavours and a soft cottony mouthfeel. The finish is warming hoenyish. Unusual and quite tasty.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hand pulled at the Anchor, Birmingham, during their Phoenix weekend. Black, with a thick beige head. Sweet, smooth, fluffy, thick and slightly oiley. It’s not the strongest flavour, but there is a gentle sweetness from the honey and a slight bitter finish. Very nice Porter.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Cask handpull at Crosse Keys ’Sporks. Black with dark brown edges, lasting beige head. Decent roasted malt, good sting on finish. Charcoal, but juicy, a little sweetness from the honey. Aaarh, now I see it’s got honey in it, it’s obvious. There was something in the swallow I couldn’t identify. But yes definite honey and a tasty beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JAN 4, 2009 Knickersby ’Spoons. Dark ruby with beige lace. Blackcurrant, red pepper and roast on nose. Creamy chocolate malt, lingering smoke and a firm underpinning of almost citrussy hop bitterness. More drawn-out chocolate than honey character. Maybe a nibble of burnt Sugar Puff. A distinctive beer with an intriguing interplay of hops and malt. (Smithfield Hotel, Manchester...dark ruby with beige rim and lace. Nose sickbowl and butter, medicinal cherry lolly. Disinfectant honey, tiny puff of smoke, spoiling cherry. Pretty shite, but original rate stands).
