3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Nocturne (35) - Northwich, Cheshire, ENGLAND - JAN 1, 2012
Cask at JDW. Reddish amber with small creamy head. Lots of fruit in the aroma and the taste lives up to it. Winter berries immediately come to mind along with smooth strawberry and raspberry jam. A hint of spices round off a pleasant beer.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 chriso (7062) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 13, 2011
Cask (handpump) at the Market Porter on 4 December 2010. Not very copious notes as I mistakenly thought I already rated this. Basically seemed like a decent, if unspectacular best bitter. Hints of citric hop. Fine, but I think Phoenix generally do pale beers better.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 hughie (3992) - Bedford, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 27, 2009
Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Dark gold with a small white head. Malty aroma. I thought this beer had a nice balance between malt, sourness, and a sharp bitter finish. Bare good to be precise.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20 MesandSim (7108) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 17, 2009
A Mes rate. Cask at Baker St ’Sporks. Clean pale amber colour with a good off white head and lace. Big diacetyl and butter on the nose. Even worse in the mouth. If I wanted a cake I’d have bought one. I wanted a beer, that actually tastes like beer. I’ve always enjoyed Phoenix beers so I’d expect the quality of this to be more down to this shower of shite JDW than down to the brewery. Whatever, all I can do is call it as I see it. Full on butter and there isn’t even any toast to go with it. Undrinkable.
