Big bitter. Sweet malts, fleshy fruits, aromatic hops. Decent finish. I didn’t mind the sweetness at all.

A dry and hoppy premium bitter. Sweet on the palate in the finish. Gazza (720), Worcester, Worcestershire, England Oct 28, 2004 A rich, sweet bitter beer. Intense flavours of hops and toffee malt and a rich fruity (apricots/peaches) and quite bitter finish. Might be a bit sweet for some people. (Cask in Queen’s Arms, Manchester) chris_o (4393), London, Greater London, England Jun 16, 2004 Copper colour. Rather faint fresh hop aroma with hints of yeast and vinous undertones. The flavour is quite winey and woody with some dry green hops, falling away in the middle, but the hops return strongly on the finish, which is bittersweet. Overall, a bit soft and sweetish, but comes off somehow. Cask (handpump), Head of Steam, Euston, London.
SilkTork (3794), Rochester, Kent, England Jun 6, 2004 Rare Breeds Fest. Dark amber premium bitter. Wow! This is absolutely gorgeous. Not as sharply hopped as other Pheonix beers, this is a malt and hop moment of pure pleasure and balance. Flavours and aromas and bouquets swarm all over the place - lilly, honeysuckle, strawberry, melon, rhubarb and custard, cedar wood, etc, finishing with a gentle hint of chocolate. Smooth and silky. Absolutely awesome - thank god this was in good condition!
