(Cask at Wenlock Arms, London, 24 April 2008) Dark brown colour with frothy, pale brown head. Roasted, malty nose with dry notes of coffee. Roasted, malty taste with coffee, cocoa and dark fruit. Rather thin body, moderate bitterness. Very mildish.

Cask conditioned at The Kelham Island Tavern, Sheffield. Dark brown with tan head. Eureka, a good beer in Sheffield, pity its brewed in Lancashire. Fruity smooth, dark and toasted beer, good depth of flavour ans a lasting bitterness on the finish. A true northern mild and delicious too.

A Mes rate: Cask at Chelmsford Beer Festival. Medium brown colour. Fruity malt and black coffee aroma. Nice nutty mild flavour with fruit a plenty and a pleasing lightly sweet malt finish.

Pours an excellent dark brown colour. Aroma is chocolate malt, sweet roasted barley. Taste is really choclatey, really smooth mouthfeel and dangerously drinkable.

Cask gravity at Planet Thanet BF 2006, Ramsgate. Black beer with ruby edges and bubbly beige head. Coffee choc aroma, good in mouth, then has sourness towards the end, with drying hop finish. Tasty mild with roasted malt flavours and touch of powdery charcoal. Would have this again.
