Cask at Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen. Dark amber beer with a small beige head. Malty fruity aroma, chocolate, sweet licorice, raisins, prunes, citrus notes, some vanilla, some weak hop notes. Malty flavor, roasted, chocolate, sweet licorice, caramel, raisins, some soot. Drinkable but a bit thin.

Soft mellow roast malts. Mellow sweet grains. A touch of bitter hops. A very good porter despite there being no jump-out features. Solid.

Cask at Charlie’s bar. It pours deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is roasted malt, toast, coffee, dark chocolate and dark fruit. The taste is roasted malt, toast, caramel, dark fruit, coffee, decent bitterness and pepper with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Solid porter.

From cask at Charlies. Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malty, breadish and light chocolate. Toasted malty, chocolate and toffee caamelish. Bitter chocolate and subdued sweetness. Lingering roasted malty and chocolate finish.

Cask at Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen. A pitch black beer with a tan head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt and chocolate. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, chocolate, soy sauce, and a bit of smoke, leading to a bitter roasted finish.

Cask at JDW. Dark with a hint of ruby. Just over medium bodied; a tiny bit watery. Classic porter taste: fruits, chocolate, coffee. Nice and roasty. Perfect in the depths of winter.
