Black. Deep roasty aroma with hints of coffee. Near full bodied with chewy maltiness and pleasant warming mouthfeel. Well hopped with salty, really bitter finish. A top notch cask porter!

Cask at Sheffield Tap. Nearly black. Thin, tight, lasting all the way down, milky coffee coloured head. Lovely looking beer. Aroma is dark, vinous fruit. Roast malt. Some licorice. Taste is dark fruit dry, with a hint of treacle sweetness. Long, dry roasty finish, with some bitterness. Very nice.

Soft mellow roast malts. Mellow sweet grains. A touch of bitter hops. A very good porter despite there being no jump-out features. Solid.

Cask at JDW. Dark with a hint of ruby. Just over medium bodied; a tiny bit watery. Classic porter taste: fruits, chocolate, coffee. Nice and roasty. Perfect in the depths of winter.

A Sim rate (Winter Beer Fest): Plum, caramel and chocolate in the aroma with a hit of coffee. It’s like really gourmet coffee beans where the aroma is subtle but amazing. Very bitter mouthfeel with malty coffee finish. Quite yeasty. Too bitter and pungent but quite a nice porter.
