Cask at The Green Dragon, Leek (JDW) A clear straw colour with a thin white head. Aroma of lemon, melon, slight peach, subtle grapefruit and some grassy hops. Taste is similar of lemon, melon, slight grapefruit, subtle peach, some herbal and grassy hops. Light bodied but a watery texture. A dry, crisp, grassy hop bitterness in the finish. A light, refreshing golden ale but lacks a great deal of taste. Isn’t hoppy enough.

Cask Kings Head Carlisle. Dusty gold beer with a light yeasty aroma and soft lemon. Some kiwi and grapefruit flavours but I’d have liked a bit more. Pumpclips claims it to be dry, but, again, a bit more tang wouldn’t have gone amiss

Hand-pulled half-pint in The Crown Inn, Oakengtaes on 29 Jun 2013. Light golden brew with and full white head. Floral hop nose with a dry and refreshing feel to the taste. There is a mild citrus undertone throughout the brew but it doesn’t take over completely, it just lurks in the background allowing the malts and other fruit esters from the hops combine to give a fairly well balanced brew. Bordering on those ’golden citrusy beers the UK in full of currently’ that I am not a big fan of: this gets the benefit of the doubt!

[cask, Lamb and Lion, York] Slightly hazy golden ale with musty, grassy aroma. Bitter bready flavours, leading to an almost sharp citrus edge. Don’t think it was at it’s best, in fact a while later it was taken off. Will re-rate in future [15052013]
