A high end strong beer and very popular with customers. Not my type as it is on the sweet side which you do find with many strong ales

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 tombyars (1210) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - FEB 16, 2012
First tasted this at the Paisley Beer Festival in April 2000. Cask, gravity dispense. Dark mahogany in colour with a thin white head. Strong berry fruit evident in the intensely sweet aroma. Creamy texture to the smooth mouthfeel and good lacing. Mixed malts give a juicy moist maltloaf base with soft raspberry and bramble fruit much in evidence. Dusty hop resins leave an earthy flavour to the short aftertaste. Finish is malty with strong vinous notes of port, oak and leather coming through. Robust and warming in the mouth. Fantastic English Strong Ale and worth seeking out.
