Trev (1424) - Lakeville, Minnesota, USA - OCT 15, 2006
UPDATED: OCT 16, 2006 Bottle: Pours a pale gold with a thin white head that bubbles away. Initial aroma is strong grassy hop that fades slightly with the head, backed by a thin malt aroma. Flavour is soft grainy sweetness with a nice bitterness in a clean finish. One of the better pale lagers that I’ve tried.

Any first impressions?
-A ring of foam crowns the watery gold transparency.
-Sweet grain emanations are all I can perceive in the nose, aside from the initial unleashing of skunkiness.
-Basic cereal sweetness actually meets some noble hops, but they are all bathing in the hotel pool.
-Its body is really well built, and remains my favorite feature; its malty roundness and soft effervescence work together competently.

What if you dig deeper?
-Fruity honey develops within the simple cereal notes.
-There is no reason to dig very deep here, since you’ll hit ground water very quickly.
-The brewer’s abilities are not the ones being punished here. It is rather the remarkably boring nature of the recipe which won’t please this site’s tasters.
-This is not offensive at all, and would make a decent poolside drink in the good beer wasteland that is southern Thailand.

Bottle (for export only?); no date.

Lightly hazed straw color with a moderate white head. Grass and floral hops along with a touch of perfume and pale malt. Watery flavors of rice and mild noble hops. Light bitterness. A decent first brew of the day, but after that it gets real thin and boring.

Bottle. Pours blond with a small fizzy white head. Nose is wet, freshly cut grass, light grain, cardboardy malts and faint fruit notes. Taste is much sweeter than expected. Sugary malts, cereal, light grains, citrus and faint grassy hops. Body is light and bordering on watery. Finishes with more sweet malts, sugary cereal flavors, light honey, and grains. Bad but could have been worse.

Pale yellow, thin head, very strong skunk aroma. More of the same in the taste but if it wasn’t for that it would be a decent pale lager. Not a complete loss, I’ve now rated a beer from Thailand.

Last beer on a long night courtesy of Oakes. Pale yellow. Perhaps not the strongest beer to put up against hops, stouts and big beers. Light, clean and without big defects.

Poured a clear, straw yellow from the bottle. Slight hop aroma, sudsy white head. Watery taste, nothing to the body. Quite forgettable, but not unpleasant.
