1.1 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
Bottle from AJís Fine Foods. Pours clear yellow with a half inch of white foam. Big, big Heineken must on the nose. A little sweetness on the tongue but pretty boring otherwise. Meh! But yeah for Thailaind tick.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
330ml bottle at pre-GBBF shindig, August 2009. Pale gold with a few stray floaties. A bit sweet with no discernible hop bite. Rather grainy and a bit papery. Couldnít spy a best before date on the bottle but I know this was a bit old so Iíll cut it a little slack. I doubt it would have been much better fresh though. Not exactly horrible. Just another of those hot climate lagers that may be serviceable on its home patch (or maybe with food at a Thai restaurant) if itís ice cold and you are thirsty but doesnít really do anything else.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
From the bottle @ The Bangkok Burger Co., Bangla Road, Phuket, Thailand.
Amazed that I struggled to find this one throughout the island, so a good change from Singha it made. The first and only bottle to make it into a glass was made with my hand held up to say that íNo, I donít want ice in my beer!í Loose, persistent white head of foam atop a bright yellow gold body that is quite effervescent. Interesting aroma of honey, mint, lemon zest and pear drops atop a grainy, bready malt base. Good flavour though the body is lean and light with racy carbonation and a gassy CO2 finish. The mint of the aroma dances across the palate as does a strange note of aniseed that even my partner picked up on. Quite bready and grainy as was oddly expected with a sourish citrus backend to balance it out. Brewed to the Deutsches Reinheitsgebot it is not as it does use Jasmine rice, but this had no effect in bringing it down. Must have had this in top form as one lead to another, and another as we sat people watching the street of Bangla as it came to life in the afternoon. Refreshing! (33cL, BB 15/01/13)
