On February 16th 1813, New Brunswick’s 104th Regiment of Foot started a more than 1100 kilometer march from Fredericton, New Brunswick to modern day Kingston, Ontario, to reinforce the British garrison and thwart an expected American invasion. The winter of 1813 was one of extreme cold and heavy snows and this march lasted until April. This epic march stands as a great achievement in both military, and New Brunswick history.

pours a deep brown with thick, frothy beige head. strong aromas of wheat and coffee. taste is roasted toffee and dark chocolate. very light mouthfeel considering the appearance thanks to low alcohol content. finish is strong hops and roasted malt. A decent brown and tastes just as I would expect from Picaroon’s.

Looks like cola but with a nice long-lasting beige head and some creamy lacing. Aromas of apples, roasted and caramel malts. The taste with the same malts has some nutty notes as well. Pretty decent brown ale that refreshes.

Beaucoup de malt bien foncé et énormément de café me montent au nez... Cependant, le goût ne peut suivre le parfum initial, ce qui déçoit considérablement. Bon produit malgré cela.

Very enjoyabeer this’un. Ruby brown she was, an off white head adorning. Brown bread, caramel and roasted malts dance together to form the scent of this umber babe. The taste is bittersweet with leather, nuts and burnt toffee coming alive on the tongue. Zee mouthfeel is medium.

Bottle from the brewery store. Pours a clear dark brown color with ruby at the edges and a creamy frothy off white head that displays great retention and lace. Aromas of caramel, toffee, and chocolate maltiness with just a hint of butterscotch and earthy hop to balance. The flavor is rich caramel and toffee maltiness with a fair amount of chocolate notes and some earthy hop flavor and minimal bitterness. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a creamy silky mouthfeel. I seem to be a bit better at tolerating diacetyl in darker beers and I kind of enjoyed this one.

An interesting brown ale that tastes a lot meatier than the abv says. Poured a ruby brown with a nice frothy head. Aroma was of roasted malts and coffee beans. Tasted of coffee, nuts, toffee, and even some interesting smokiness going on in there. Had a medium body with lively carbonation that left a tingly feel on the tongue. I would quaff this again.

Pours dark brown with a 1-inch tan head. Subtle coffee and dark malt aromas with a bit of cherry. Taste is what you would expect from a brown ale. Soft carbonation with a medium body. Medium-strength coffee and dark malts. Finishes with a pleasant aftertaste of those same flavours. Overall not a bad beer. Definitely true to the style.

2014-03-21. Dark mahogany body head with a nice beige head. 3+ Aroma is mild and toasty, mineral notes. Flavour is relatively dry malt, light toasty and roasty notes, light bitterness in the finish lingers with mild mineral quality. Average bodied palate, effervescent carbonation. Okay. Showing its age I suspect but a decent take on the style. Bottle from the brewery cellared several months

[Bottle (500ml) shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, jercraigs & mabel -- c/o j&m] Pours a deep ruby with a large lasting fluffy off-white head. Some lacing. Aroma’s not very good, it’ss ugary sweet along with some fruit, caramel malt, metal and egg shells. Oxidized metallic flavour along with fruity malt. Average bodied. Average at best.
