Pours a slightly murky brown with moderate off-white head. Caramel and nuttiness in nose with mild hoppiness. Strong caramel malty flavour with citrus hops becoming more prominent as the beer warms. Lasting moderate bitter finish. Hadn’t heard of this brewery so didn’t know what to expect - was pleasantly surprised with this one. Berley31 (230), New Brunswick, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 25, 2009 Updated: Nov 13, 2009A: Poured with a very large, off-white head that hung around at a good two-finger size for almost the entire consumption of the 500 ml bottle. Head is clumpy, and yields nice lacing on the sides of the glass. Body is hazy, and a nice, dark-amber color.
S: Consistent aroma of some light, roasted malt, and strong bitterness. Maybe some light fruit in there as well, but nothing too distinctive.
T: Very nice taste of sweetness at the beginning, and finishing with a moderately-bitter flavor that is intermediate-lasting. Nothing too overpowering, but far from boring as well. Quite a nice tasting bitter.
M: Medium-to-full bodied and creamy texture. Average carbonation.
D: An excellent bitter, and one of Picaroons better entries. Easy to drink, but more than enough in the flavor and mouthfeel department to be extremely enjoyable... and easily the best-looking Picaroons to date. Lubiere (4557), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Au nez on respire des arômes de caramel brulé, de sapin et de céréales. En bouche le corps est mince-moyen avec une effervescence élevée. On goûte des saveurs de sapin, de caramel et de houblon sec, tranchant et amère. Beershine (2754), Traipsing Around, China

Clean caramel malt soon becomes obscured by acetone aromas. Mmmmm diacetyl on top of caramel malt. Doh! Carbonation is medium, with decent mouthfeel. Some nutty flavors but flawed, with acridity and acetone in finish. Am thinking we got a skunked bottle, purchased @ Sackville, NB govt store. Sampled again with only slightly higher ratings and averaged together... Gethinbeer (1031), Nova Scotia, Canada

Aroma is sweet medium malt, some spicy fruit. Taste is more like a bitter. Also some issues, so I’ll adjust up slightly. Mild carbonation. Thanks Ed Notch for sharing.
