Clear golden. White head disappears fast. Off-putting aroma of soda pop, orange, and general weirdness. Fizzy, gassy, prickly mouthfeel and palate. Tastes like soda water gone awry with rotten fruits. Horrid.

Golden-straw colour. I do get some orange peel underneath heavy-handed stank foot notes and abundant diacetyl in the aroma. Some orangey notes but lots of blandness. Lame, goes nowhere. There is absolutely nothing good to offer as a payoff for putting up with that butterbomb aroma.

Bottle-Pours a hazy yellow topped with a creamy white foam. Little retention or lace. Mildly spicy nose with lemons, banana, and some yeast. Flavour profile is creamy lemon custard with corriander, grapefruit and fruity yeast with a touch of hops. Fruity, mildly hoppy finish with lingering spices. A bit thin on the finish. An enjoyable summer wheat.

Pours a very clear pale straw gold, with a thick head of white suds. Not hazy at all. The aroma is lemon, coriander, rhubarb, hops, celery, and a bit of maltiness. The mouthfeel is crisp, with medium carbonation. The taste is, as labeled, a nice mix of German and Belgian wheat styles. There’s the coriander and wheat tang, with some bitter hops (not at all excessive), some lemon citrus, sweetish malt, and a sour tang (especially big in the aftertaste). A great beer, although it comes across as slightly watered-down.

muzzlehatch (4424) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - MAY 24, 2007
500 ml bottle from New Brunswick Liquor Corporation on King Street, Saint John, New Brunswick (May 2007) served a bit below cellar temperature from a Samuel Smiths pint glass. Pours a very pale, just faintly hazy straw color, with a moderate quick-diminishing snow-white head that leaves no lacing.....the nose offers a touch of diacetyl, alas (infections don’t seem uncommon in this brewer from my first few tries), but there’s some interesting sour apple, lime, and a touch of sea air wafting through as well......body is lemony, vaguely sour, a touch of berry sweetness at the front but then quite dry from midpalate on, pretty thin and watery like the Bitter I had last night....reasonably crisp, dry finish. The thinness really kills this one but the end result isn’t undrinkable.

500 mL bottle from ANBL, courtesy of the Probstk. A yellow ale with a thick dense lacing white head. Atoma of buckwheat, lactic acid, and grass, with light pepperyness. In mouth, a lightly sweet malt, light banana and lightlactic acid notes, a bit off, but not unpleasant. Its a good I didn’t wait to consumme this.

500 mL bottle from ANBL. Bright straw with orange hues, lightly clouded. Smallish, frothy white head. Very grainy nose with lightly vegetal notes. Thin body and sharp carbonation. Very tart and almost no flavour. None of the typical wheat beer / weizen characteristics. I suspect this bottle has turned. What a shame.
