Bottle thanks to my dad. Very dark brown with lasting mocha head but not much lace. Roasty nose has some coffee and smoke. Medium bodied, fairly bitter with almost no sweetness. Bitter coffee like finish with lengthy bitter finish. Good stuff.

500mL bottle to glass beer stein
Aroma of dark chocolate, roasted malts, and corn with barnyard odors. The colour is dark brown/black with a 3cm brown head that settles to 1cm. Taste is roasted or burnt malts, strong coffee, and bitter melon. Surprisingly this is a bit watery too.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Note: 5 /10

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
500ml bottle. Light, sweet coffee aroma of roasted malts. Pours very dark brown to black with an ample caramel coloured head that doesn’t last long. Pretty much no lacing. Taste is more sweet coffee with hints of a medium chocolate. Roasted bitterness on the back of the palate. Flavour a little more thin than I like in a stout but enjoyable. Solid body for a stout, but not especially heavy. Overall, reminds me kind of the traditional coffee I was served in Cuba with real sugar can, but dialed down a bit. That coffee was very strong tasting and this is not as strong, but still in the same kind of vein. A solid effort.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
February 19, 2010 tasting with blankboy, garthicus, gregclow, jerc & mabel. Shared by jerc & mabel. Black pour, with a large lasting creamy off-white head. Have to admit, my notes are a bit incoherent, this was the last beer of a long night, but here goes. Aroma and flavour both are roasty, some light cocoa, dry and herbal, no cola or syrup character, mild alcohol - simple, solid, decent. Somewhat creamy mouthfeel, mild carbonation, slightly quick finish - not fantastic, but easy to drink in quantity. Under other circumstances.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Originally rated November 2009. Bought this one in Edmonston, N.B. when I was on tour with my band. Pours a dark brown (almost black) colour with hardly any highlights and its head is huge, light brown, super creamy, very long-lasting and beautiful thick lacing. Nice aromas of chocolate and burnt malts with notes of coffee and candy. Medium-bodied with a wet smooth and velvet mouthfeel. The taste is pretty smooth too. Not too bitter, not too roasted, not too sweet, but all of them well-mixed in one mouthful. Should have a bit more kick. Overall, pretty good though and a beautiful looking pint.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A deep dark stout with a super thick and frothy brown head. In aroma, lightly sweet chocolate, coffee, herbaceous notes and musty caramel. In mouth, a lightly sour bitter chocolate with loads of roasted coffee, lightly powdery mouthfeel, a bit of lactic points. Medium bodied. A tad intense and unbalanced.
